Anybody hunt in area 2 (preferably DeSoto Parish), that can comment on the rut. Has it passed or not?

Thanks.

I used to hunt DeSoto alot and now have moved on to Claiborne. Rut usually started around Thanksgiving up there. But haven't hunted there this year. In Claiborne, last weekend we only saw a few rubs and scrapes...it should be getting there in about 10 days or so.

I'm in south caddo, and the young bucks were starting to sniff around this past saturday. 4 hunters saw 6 bucks looking for booty. 2 were chasing.

I'd say it's just getting started and the big boys should be on the move pretty soon.

Ok I know Louisiana Sportsman predicted it would be earlier in November, but I haven't seen any action as of late. I've been seeing a few rubs and scrapes pop up also. Plan on going this weekend and for Thanksgiving. Thanks for the info, if anybody else has heard or seen anything please post.

It usually happens around the week of thanksgiving. Some years a little before, so a little after. The weekend after Thanksgiving is usually money because it falls right in the middle.

The next full moon is November 28th I believe. That's when I would think it would be in full swing. I hunt DeSoto Parish/Red River Parish line and have seen scrapes popping up much more frequently lately.

That article says it grossed about 150...I would have guessed much more. Lots of mass!

I hunt around Lena and the rut is usually in full swing by Thanksgiving week. I have not seen any sign (rubs or scrapes) that it has started just yet. I hope it hasn't anyway.

Weve seen an increas in scrapes lately. They're getting fired up. My buddy killed two giant bucks in the last two weeks. I'll see if he cares if I post the pics.

son in law and his uncle have killed a 9 pt and 2 8s in the past week, hunting near Pelican. Pretty sure it is on right now, if not over already.

I hunt in Lincoln Parish and saw 3 fresh new scrapes Wednesday. Also, that little 6 point I killed the same day stunk pretty bad. I'd say it's starting to kick off.

I've got a couple of does that usually come eat corn like clock work. They haven't been around the past 2 days.

Thats a pretty good sign that I need to be on the stand.
