Are Buck and Case pretty much the standard in the folding knife world?

Went to the Benchmade website. Nice, but too pricey for me.

I was planning to buy a couple of folding knives as Christmas presents, but was thinking in the 50-80 dollar range per knife.

I'm kind of thinking Buck 110.

Kershaw Ken Onion is what I’ve had for a long time. No complaints. Very durable and light in my pocket. Great customer service if necessary too.

For $50-80 get a case trapper. Case is a lot better knife than a Buck.

A lot of Spiderco are not made in Colorado

Not a fan of Gerber. Steel is very soft and dulls easily
Kershaw makes good steel.

I’m convinced that the Benchmade Bugout is one of the best EDC knives you can buy.
Zero Tolerance is great but also out of your price range.

OK, you're the second person to mention the Case Trapper. Going to look into it.

Kershaw Leek is a very often mentioned standard at your price point.

Benchmade are nice put too light and brittle for my liking.

I have an old CRT Carson Design M21-02G.

I like a knife with some heft and beefy blade.

Buck makes some cheaper knives these days, but the Buck 110 is not one of them. I really like the one my wife bought me.

I have a Benchmade north fork for EDC, but my Buck is on my side a lot in the woods.

Correct, 85% or so of Buck knives are made in Idaho, the 110 is definitely one.

Like someone above said, if Benchmade is too pricey, look at the Ontario RAT II. I have several. The AUS8 steel is less expensive than D2, but D2 is harder.

You can literally build your knife on their website down to where the thing is manufactured

Smith & Sons in sulphur, La puts out damn fine knives. You get what you pay for. Have some fixed blades but need to pick up the mudbug folding knife
