I have been thinking about getting a new shotgun and was set on Franchi however I noticed the Retay but don't know much about them.
Anyone have any experience with them?

My BIL has been shooting one for about 2 years now. Pretty solid gun he likes it. He’s also shooting a Patternmaster full choke out of it.

Jeff Simmons tried to sell us some at our lodge, but we didn’t bite so I don’t have personal experience…… but know 2 guys that have them - 1 is great and 1 has some cycling issues. That, and also know a few others w bad Turkish guns, kept me away.
That said, one of my partners just bought the new Benelli and it’s a single shot, too - cycling issue on brand new shotgun. They told him to “run some shells thru it” pffft. For $2k it needs to cycle.

It's not uncommon for semi autos to not work great when brand spanking new. Beretta recommends a number of heavy loads for "break in" before shooting light shells.

I heard about these the other day for the first time and looked them up. They don’t seem too bad but for the price I’d just get a benelli. They’re damn near the same price. Maybe if they were $600-800 I could see it, but they’re like $1400-1500 and a benelli is only a couple hundred more.

What's your thoughts on the Franchi?

Outfitter in Lubbock shoots a dozen Retays, has no issues with them, and recommends them.
Lubbock wind/dust/cold can be tough on autos.

My 15 yr old son shoots one, the masa Mara or whatever it is and has had zero issues with it as far as cycling etc. the last 3 years. He had a problem with the finish on it peeling etc. We contacted Retay and they handled it very quickly and professionally. Sent us a prepaid shipping label and allowed my son to pick the color cerakote for receiver and barrel and pattern for the stock etc dip. Could not be happier with the way they handled the whole thing. I have dealt with customer service with Benelli and beretta and they weren’t as good as Retay. Since getting it back he has had zero problems with it. He probably hunts 30 days of the season and is a shooter so it gets plenty of use. I shoot a sbe3 and his twin brother does as well and it performs as well as the benalli’s. I will say had I not won the gun I don’t think I would have bought it over the sbe3 for him being the prices of the two are very close.

I have 2 Benellis and my son has a Franchi.
Never had a click
A benelli click is when the bolt isn’t fully seated. The hammer won’t engage the firing pin.

The retay is a shitty copy of a SBE2. It's the same design with worse manufacturing. I dont understand how it could possibly be worth the price.
I took a retay apart at my camp today. It misfired in the duck blind this morning. It is obviously a cheap shite copy of the benelli SBE. It does have a nifty trigger mechanism removal, but we had to beat it apart.
Eta: my ultralight was $1500 and is about 5x the shotgun that retay is. I didn't ask but I figured it was a $400 academy gun.

Very limited experience with them but from everything I've ever heard, good to go and a fair value for the price.

What is benelli click?
Rotary head bolt sometimes does not fully go into battery. Happens either by trying to silently load a shell of a slight push back on the bolt.
I have a habit of checking my bolt especially while waiting on a Turkey or hogs or any time I go long periods without shooting and carrying it around.

Yea yea I remember being told about that before. I'm on about my 15th budweiser so I missed it.
The only time I ever had that problem hunting was with a remington 11-48. I've hunted and shot sporting clays with my benelli and around MANY others. It's a non issue if you aren't a dumbass.
Since the retay is the same design as the benelli with shitty manufacturing, any design flaws are going to be expanded with the retay. You can buy a benelli or beretta for less than a retay so why the frick would anybody buy one? Like I said earlier, from working on one today I thought it was a $400 academy special like a yildiz or Tristar. For over $1000 frickKKKK that.

What I needed to know.

Yea dude, get a beretta if you want a gas gun, benelli if you want a new school recoil gun, and a franchi if you want an old school recoil gun.
Both beretta and benelli have shotgun options that are the best values on the market. If you're willing to spend $1200 you can get a montefeltro if you want a benelli or an A300 if you want a beretta. If you need to shoot 3.5's, get a beretta A350
