Anyone own/use a Japanese Mini Truck for Hunting Purposes?

I have a very specific seasonal hunting use in mind for this and have been the atv/utv/golf cart route in the past. I've narrowed my search down to this idea or an older small SUV as my options. Theft is my primary concern where I will be leaving this during hunting season, and I realize it would be easier to steal one of these than a full-size vehicle (but not by much). I also like the idea of the mini truck being smaller/easier to transport and store in the offseason than a full size vehicle.
*I'll be in & out of the office for the next couple of hours so my responses won't be immediate. Thanks OB

It would be cheaper to get a Jeep or a Suzuki Samurai. Parts are easier to find and cheaper.

I have several farmer friends that bought them in the late 90s and early 2000's for use around the rice fields of Southwest Louisiana really before side by sides became a real alternative. I'm not sure about your area or quality of roads but they're rough riding tiny pieces of shite.
In all seriousness, every single guy I know that bought one bitched and moaned about them to no end. I'm not kidding they're tiny, two full sized guys better be good friends to ride together. Zero suspension unless you spend time and money customizing it to get ground clearance...

They were very popular a few years back, until they started needing parts and there are none to be found, ...be careful

FIL bought one and thought it was great, till it broke. As others have mentioned, parts are near impossible to get. It’s just sitting in the back now rusting away.

Had a friend who bought a couple of the Japanese mini trucks in the early 2000's. He found two old Samurais and ditched the minis

Have you looked at the Mahindra Roxor?

Careful, a few states have declared war on these vehicles and sent hundreds of owners a "you must deregister and sell your vehicle within 90 days" type of letters.
Make sure you're not on that hit list.

We have one for hunting in Osyka, MS.
Small lift kit and upgraded to tractor style tires. Its perfect to retrieve a deer, work days, etc (WHEN IT RUNS!)
it has been a nightmare of ongoing issues in that regard.
It is rough riding for sure, but 4WD, enclosed cab, and can go anywhere we need.
that said: we hunt pine thickets without any hills, no mud holes, ruts, etc.
Overall weight is so light in the arse, we used to get stuck spinning tires on the slightest incline in the pine needles (before upgrading tires).
The low bed height is a plus when loading a deer, and roomy enough for carrying all your shite.
all that said, doing it over, I would get a used single cab 4x4, or a side by side.

FIL had one. Sold it and bought a Honda pioneer. They are tiny, ride rough, hard to find parts for, and break constantly bc they aren’t made for using them the way hunters use them. Worst part is I always get in on the wrong side bc steering wheel is on the opposite side lol

Had a two door Jeep I shouldn’t have gotten rid of, but that is another story for another thread……

Thanks for all the replies so far guys, please keep ‘‘em coming. I’ve watched a lot of YT videos and most of the people are on the west coast and have a huge importer/dealer near them, I would not be so lucky. Sounds like they are no easier to maintain than your typical beater used car/truck. So much for Japanese reliability.

My setup is high lines and woods surrounded by farm fields. The farm roads get wet, muddy, and rutted up. That is what has led me to search for something with an enclosed cab - whether it be a mini truck or small 4WD SUV.

At this time my state only allows them for off road use.

+1 for a Sammy. No complaints. And having a heater is pretty convenient.
