Anyone own a 23 or 24 Sequoia?

I do not own it but I have looked at them.
The back seat (3rd row) sucks.
The batteries are in the back and it messes up the back seat/storage area.

Are you towing a boat or utility trailer?
Twin turbo would be a no go for me. If towing is not a primary concern, then the standard axle ratio is probably fine. Toyota only offers a 3.31.

4 mpg more than my older 5.7 liter engine on the highway and now you have to deal with batteries? No thanks. I’ve driven the hybrid Highlander and it feels heavy and sluggish. I can’t imagine what this feels like.

I guess I am asking of 4wd really gets 19/22. 2wd says it gets 19/24.
That sounds insane for a Tahoe-sized truck.
I understand the twin turbo to some degree. But you have to have some kind of pedal-discipline to make it all work, right?
Armadas are about 10k cheaper used with a v8. If the gas mileage is a farce, then I can see switching to Nissan. Knowing that a Nissan is not a Toyota in perceived quality.

There are too many variables that equates to achieving estimated fuel mileage. Toyota has a 3.31 axel ratio, which is good for highway use and gets them to 19/22; however, if you plan on +33" tires and towing more frequently, it will lower your average.

Was looking at it but the third row seats cannot be removed. They can be folded down but they stick up about a foot above floor. So if you want to put an ice chest or a golf bag or anything substantial back there it's gonna be odd. Their answer is they give you a little shelf that fits on the back of the third row seats and would give you space to put something under. They kinda cheaped out on the interior as well and I only looked at the Capstone and Platinum. Last gripe is they went back to a single rear axle (prob to increase tow capacity) which gives it a rougher backseat ride. I hope they fix those issues in the 2025.

I drove my '22 Tundra (non-hybrid) to Ohio in '22. I filled up the truck (just outside of Memphis) and drove the entire way on one tank of gas.
32 gallon tank and 560ish miles. Think I put 26 gallons or so when we got there. So, right at 21-22 mpg
Since then, I put 275/60r20s on it and mileage has dropped to 18-19.
ETA: towed my son's 2012 Sequoia to my FIL's this past year on a 30ft+ car hauler trailer. 1.5hrs or so and very hilly across north MS. Truck got 13-14 mpg.

I’d have said the same thing before owning a 3.5 EB F150. I haven’t babied it and towed quite a bit and some heavy loads (small tractors, etc). I average 18.5+ in normal mixed driving and have 34” (295/70R18) tires on it. It pulls WAY better than an equivalent F150 with a 5.0 V8. Not even comparable

There was a Mexican family that pulled up to our garage sale in a TRD pro version not long after they hit the market.

Toyota’s new design with these hybrids is a dealbreaker for me. They put the battery in the back and reduce the cargo area in the foot space for the third row. They’re also doing this in the new land cruiser platform. For those reasons I cannot go with a hybrid engine.

I looked at the Sequoia and ended with a Tundra. I really like the Sequoia but the back of it with the split levels and not being able to fold flat the 3rd row bugged me enough to make me think do I really need a 3rd row and I didn't want to deal with that configuration. I have no issues with the Hybrid engine. Plenty of power and torque. If you like it go for it. Just wasnt what I really needed.

Yeah, why would you want a shitload of low end power and the ability to maintain 75mph uphill without downshifting, when you could have a good ole naturally aspirated V8 with less low end power and less peak power with the need to downshift on every hill and overpass?

its a great reliable engine. its just very inefficient and the infotainment and new technology is certainly an upgrade on the 2024. bodystyle will be dated now that the new model is out but if you are keeping it 10 years it likely wont matter.
