See a TRD around town with 35”s and it’s sharp. Leisurely looked at pricing for my wife, but they’re expensive.

Yeah, why would you want a shitload of low end power and the ability to maintain 75mph uphill without downshifting, when you could have a good ole naturally aspirated V8 with less low end power and less peak power with the need to downshift on every hill and overpass?

Mechanical reliability of a properly designed turbo engine can be pretty close to a NA and sometimes better as the engine doesn't have to be reved high into the RPM range to generate torque. Sure there is increased cylinder pressure but that's easy to design around. The knowledge and technology is there to make most of the motor just as mechanically reliable. What you can't get around is the probability and statistics of an increased number of components and the statistical likelyhood of something failing. And the physics of the increased heat produced in a turbo charged motor and how that increased heat will speed the aging process of the rubber and plastic parts and anything rotating on bearings in the engine compartment. Probably only an issue if you plan on keeping the vehicle over 10+ years. Even Toyota is not perfect the 5.7l had it's fair share of problems that didn't really show up until 2-3 years of ownership. By the 4th-5th year the problems had been identified and Toyota engineers ironed them out and the 5.7 truly started build it's reputation for reliability. For those of you who don't remember the leaky early 5.7's, I'd do the same for the new turbo 6's and see what problems pop up and get solved the first 3-4 years before I invest that much money on their new motor.
