They are predicting foggy mornings this week and if so the chompions should be out. I have a willow stump I found in the swamp I use for an indicator log if it sprouts oyster mushrooms I know I can find more along the river or in the swamp.

Planned on starting to learn how soon.
Have an uncle who does it semi-regularly to help me out thankfully.

this.

Would love to find someone to go with who knows that they are doing.

Also be cool to find some of those that make your mind wacky. I need some of them.

They grow on willow and are easy to find I'll try to take some pics and video to show yall. Maybe this week they come out after a few foggy mornings and we posed to have that this week.

They are easy to identify and dont really have anything else that looks similar. We have picked them for as long as I can remember. My fear is usually snakes rather than bad mushrooms though lol

What do you do with these mushrooms? I assume eat them but what's different about them?

Other than the ones that make you trip.

I know a few bar flies from back in the day who could make mushrooms flock to them.

Oysters are easy to find. Like others said look for dead willows. I also pick chantrelles. Those are delicious. Look for tree canopy with lots of shade. They like areas with a moist cool ground. Have luck next to big oak trees. If you find them in a spot, they usually reappear in the same spot next year. I get them all summer long after rains.

The key is finding a cow pasture.

Just grow your own. Much safer.

I've been a couple times. We picked them off of willow and tupelo trees.

Battered and deep fried, cooked in a stew.... hard to beat.

I'm no expert, but that's a batch of mycelium. It's the white hair like fungus growth on the bottom. The orange/reddish caps and stems that grow from it are the real deal. Those will give you hallucinations and bend your mind. The cow pasture ones just fuzz your vision a little and make you laugh.

So I've been told...
