Anyone here use #3 shot for ducks?

I have typically used a mix of 2 shot and 4 shot steel for duck hunting. I am seeing some 3 shot available and am thinking about trying some out.
any feedback on 3 shot would be appreciated.

It's kinda between #2's and #4's.
Seriously though, I know more than a couple guys that shoot them very religiously.

I buy them if I can find them

#3 is a very popular duck shot size. You're really splitting hairs when you start talking about the actual shot efficiency of the shells in a 2 vs 3. 2s are a liiitle bit better, and their down range knockdown power comes into play more with big ducks and geese, but if you were hunting somewhere with a lot of teal and woodies, 3s would make sense. I shoot 3s right now but my next case will be 2s for big ducks and 4s for early season Bwt.

this is what I have done all along, but after the early teal flights, I often forget to shift over to the larger shot....I am thinking that the three shot would be a good general compromise.

I have used primarily Kent Steel 3's for the last 15 years. It's an excellent shot. As an aside I also know of a high ranking WLF duck guy who shoots them religiously or at least used to also.

I shoot #3's year round. Used to switch between #4 and #2. Started shooting specifically #3 a few years back, now I stick with them. Definitely wouldn't go back.

Damn, ya'll use some big shot. I use 6s for teal, sometimes 4s, and 4s for big ducks. Rarely do I use 2s. Shoot 3" and 2 3/4" shells, too.

Mainly #4s. If you are a good shot, any of them will kill.

I bought 3 cases of 3in 3's. So, yeah. Work great.

I mainly use 3 ½ T shot
Just kidding. I use 5 & 6's for teal and generally switch out 2's and 4's based on what's flying. I have a box of 3's but I've never shot them.
I have a ton of BB shot for all the geese up here though

I use BB 1 3/8 3.5 every day I am in the blind.....keeps me ready for geese or big ducks.
I really like the way the BB size shoots and holds the pattern on longer shots on windy days out in a wide open rice field.

Have any of y'all took the time to pattern your shotguns? A piece of cardboard or three and a couple shots is all it takes.
Teal, love tealsteel#5's in 2 3/4".
Also use them to hunt woodies. Improve cyl a must.
Big ducks, I swap out my tube to full choke and shoot #4's in 3". I find no need to shoot 3 1/2" shells on big ducks.
I always pack a few BB 3 1/2" just incase of a goose or two.

This. 3 has better knockdown power than a 4 but more BB's than a 2.
Also Kent TealSteel #5 for teal and poule d'eau. Works great.
