Currently living on the West Bank of Nola and very familiar with the fishing scene in plaquemines parish.

I’m wanting to switch it up and get into water sports/wakeboarding while I’m still young and physically capable.

I’ve heard about lake Maurepas, tefuncte, tickfaw ect. will definitely check them out. That being said, I probably wouldn’t want to haul a boat to the north shore every time I want to go.

Anyone familiar with wakeboarding on the lake or any other areas closer to the south shore?

Some friends used to wakeboard on the south side of the lake anytime there was a favorable wind. Launch at Bonnabel and stay on the south shore. You can stay close enough so if the wind changes, you won't get beat up getting back.

Problem with water sports in N.O. is the shallow large lakes get rough since they aren't protected from wind. Navigation canals are good idea, depending on boat traffic.

taking a 45 minute ride to kiln to ski on the Jourdan/Bayou LaCroix is worth every minute.

You need to go to the Bonnet carre spillway boat launch on airline highway (61). Check it out on google earth. Everyone used to ski there. If the first canal is too crowded you can go to the end and cut over along the interstate to the back canal which was usually less crowded.

What about launching at Bayou Segnette? There must be tons of places to wakeboard back there.

You should wakeskate or wakesurf, just because you’re young enough to tear ACL doesn’t mean you should.

In Houma we use to go on the Intracoastal, the Houma Nav and Minors canal. One time I rode a knee board from the Firestation in Houma to the Larose Bridge.

On the Westbank you could probably go in the intracoastal or the Bayou in Lafitte.

Someone mentioned the Jourdan River in BSL. That's a real nice place. Rode jetskis up that way. Flat water and fresh.
