I'm currently interested in the ATN 3-14 LINK The scope/digital camera will probably move from gun to gun, pellet gun included depending on what I'm doing with it.

I'm curious if anyone has experience with the combo mentioned in the topic or the X-Sight 3-14 itself. The SCAR 17 has a reputation of eating scopes however I have not experienced this. I feel the 3-14 kind of fits in the middle of a few scopes that I have had on the SCAR but I'm concerned if this would be the one optic/digital camera the gun devours.

There is a youtuber in south Louisiana "BS in the shop" that has several videos using the x-sight on top of an AR it seems like an interesting optic that allows you to do a lot of different things.

My interest is solely based on the ability to use it at night for hog/predator hunting or killing rats in a barn. Any info on the optic is welcomed. The optic again can and probably will move around a lot based on what I'm doing. Thanks

There is a Facebook page for ATN. Check it out.

I have an ATN. Not sure which one though.

I just sold my ATN because I wasn't using it much and they decrease in value quickly. It did everything I wanted it to do when I did use it.

Search on the OB for a post I made of mine. I have one and was on top a ar10. Only hunted with it once and killed a pig. Did exactly what it was supposed to do...I like it for the price. Got it for 500 off optics planet. Upgraded the IR light.

I also had upgraded the IR and purchased an Anker battery for it. It eats up AA's.

I wouldn’t do it. Here is thread on FN forums where Scar 17 destroyed a guys Thor Thermal. I have both SCAR and X sight and won’t put it on the SCAR for this reason.

They are known for beating up optics. It's a heavy reciprocating mass back and forth. A lot of optics and mount companies test them on the SCAR for this reason. If their optics and mounts will last and return to zero on a SCAR, they will last about anything.

Pellet rifles may be even harder on optics than the SCAR 17. It has forward and rearward recoil upon firing and just guts a scope if it's not designed for it.

Thanks! I read that one a while back. This is the second time I have entertained purchasing this optic and knowing the SCAR's reputation I continue to have cold feet for this combo. That's why I figured I would ask here to see if anyone has had any experience combining the two.

I do kind of wonder about it's reputation being I have had several different optics on it with no problems at all ranging from:
80.00ish 1-4 Crossman/CenterPoint "torture test" lol flying colors
Redfield 2-7 battle zone "no problems" non illuminated
Leupold 3-9 Mark AR mod 1 with fire dot "the fire dot blinks a little" sometimes
Vortex on a budget Strike Eagle 1-6 "on it now no problems"
Vortex Viper PST 6-24 "for the heck of it testing accuracy" no problems however it looks ridiculous and will probably get you beat up in certain situations.

I'm guessing I will go with the x-sight and just keep it off the SCAR same as you. Kind of a bummer knowing how capable the rifle is and not being able to run the combo together. Thanks again

You are 100% correct.

The reason I'm asking about the SCAR/x-sight combo is there is just so little information out there concerning the two.
There are a lot of youtubers using the x-sight with pellet rifles in barns and what not.
I have run your theory in my mind over and over. I have had several different scopes on the thing with no problems other than a flickering "fire dot" that could be a battery related issue. Thanks, at the end of the day it's 500.00 not to big of a risk or a bad place to start for getting into the night vision game. I appreciate your response!

I want to thank all of you for your input. I guessing we can put this topic to bed. I have a decent path forward at this point. Best of success to all of you be safe out there.

I'm going to place my order for the x-sight and do my best to keep it off the SCAR or not lol. I'll give y'all some feed back after I put some time in with it. Kind of tuff this time of year due to the business I'm in. Thanks again!

I put an ATN X-sight on a BPMS AR-10 this weekend to do some night hunting. I shot it maybe 10 times to sight it in and 1 of the shots(probably 6th or 7th) it shut off upon recoil. It only happened the 1 time, so hopefully it's not a normal occurrence.

Didn't kill anything with it, but did kill a great big sow later in the night under a green light with a 270.

I have a Burris XTRII 1*8 illuminated on mine. No issues with about 300 rds.

BTW if I had to keep one rifle it would be the SCAR. Love that rifle.

I've found this to be a much more effective method. Much more reliable, more lightweight, and most importantly, the pigs don't react at all to green light. Just makes things easier.
