Anyone ever sell a boat through The Boat Yard in Marrero or other consignment dealer?

My folks are considering selling a bay boat they rarely use, and having someone detail it and handle the sale (on consignment) is attractive to them. They list inventory on various internet platforms and claim to have bought and sold over 10,000 boats. TIA for any feedback on the Boat Yard or other similar boat consignment programs.

Had a friend who sold his boat through the Boat Yard and haven't heard any complaints.
I have seen enough posts on here and else where that I wouldn't consider buying a boat through them. I'd do some further research considering it will be consignment where your end amount is contingent upon the performance of this boat yard.

I sold one through them about 2 years ago, no complaints.

Just sold a boat thru the Boat Yard. Gave them a number we wanted and they marked it up accordingly (10%). Took about 5 months to sell but we finally took $34k instead of the $36k we wanted. They lowered the asking g price from $39k to $37k. Overall pretty pleased with the sale but you have to keep che king with them to make sure they are pushing the boat.

It's so easy to sell a boat right now. I sold my last one without it ever being listed, anywhere.

Put the boat on FB.
All the brokers will call you in the first day of the listing.

Tried to buy a boat there and the place is total arse. Set up an appointment with the salesmen(a 20 year old). He decided to go home for the day and didn't set it up with anyone to pull the boat to the tank to run the motor. They finally pull it out and put it in tank. Big Merc optimax. Dick around for 30 mins and it won't start. They keep saying "we just ran this the other day" check the fuel and it's straight water. Hasn't run in forever. I left and never went back. they didn't even bother to try to call me even though I had cash in hand to buy a boat. Use Davinci in Laplace. I sold my keywest through there and they were awesome.

Have been wondering the same thing. Was thinking about possibly upgrading from a 25hp prodrive to a 40hp and thought it might be worth looking into the boat yard to see if they can help me sell the motor alone. Never sold boat/motor before and I'm not too comfortable with FB or other online marketplaces. Thanks for posting.

What kind of boat is it?
It's a NauticStar- probably an older model of this one, with a Yamaha 150.

I've got 1 there now. You sign a 3 month consignment deal. Tell them the number you want. Brought mine March 18. First 2 months Tracey will try to make a big lick on it. The last month rolls around you will get a phone call weekly. I'm holding hard on my number. This is my 2nd go around with them. Exactly the same scenario the first time

Just sold a trailer through Boat Yard. I left them the title and registration. I must have signed a power of attorney as they sold it without my signing title. I am not unhappy with price, just surprised at the way it came down.

Sell it yourself. Unless the process has changed, it is extremely easy.

I sold mine pathfinder thru the BY and was seamless. I tried to buy thru Davinici and had a similar experience.... battery was dead, no compression testing completed. At least make sure the damn motor cranks if someone has an appt to look at it.

Dunno - I'll see my dad over the weekend. He'll probably bring it by the Boat Yard and DaVinci to get a ballpark idea. He's also having the engine serviced and seats redone.
