Anyone ever misplaced a gun only to find it some time later?

My son just found a Beretta 92X RDO in the sofa that I been looking for around 5-6 months. I guess it fell down in the sofa crack. My wife says I have a problem. I owe my son a nice steak dinner.

I’ve got an old .410 that my dad gave me that was broken. Can’t find that damn thing anywhere.

She walked into the bedroom with it and said most people have loose change in the sofa cracks. You been looking for this?

When the Super Black Eagle first came out I bought one and sat it on the bumper of my truck while taking my boots off the first time I took it hunting.
I found it about 30 miles later when I got home right where I had left it. Still amazed to this day it stayed on that far.

My Dad loves Lsu football and brings his camper to every home game he can. Well he brings a pistol with him and keeps it in the glove box just in case. Weeks go by and he’s looking for that damm pistol. Months go by and still can’t find it. Well he just assumed someone must have stolen it and filled a police report and even went buy the exact same gun. Come next football season he’s excited to go tailgating. Same routine gets in his camper opens the glove box to put his gun inside and sure enough that damm gun is just sitting exactly where he left it

Currently looking for a Milwaukee tape measure I have been missing. I did the logical thing and bought a new one yesterday which assures the old one will show up soon.

Not for a huge amount of time.
Lost an LCP for two weeks.
Wife opens the laundry cabinet and it almost falls on her head.
Right then, I remembered that I put it there for a reason. But forgot the replay in my mind.

Last year I was rearranging guns in the safes and found 120 rounds of .380
I have never owned a .380

A buddy called me last year on my way to church and said he saw a totaled car on our farm. The guy said he hit a huge buck. The dog and I go looking after lunch. We beat around in some really thick stuff for about an hour and jump a smallish 8 with bones sticking out of a back leg. I run 1000 yards back to the truck get my shotgun and run back and put the deer out of its misery. Then drag it probably 100 yards through thick stuff and load it up. I am whipped at this point and head to the camp to skin it.
The next Saturday I’m loading up early morning to head to my dog running club and can’t find my SBE anywhere. I look in the truck, safe, laundry room, and anywhere else I can think of. Don’t think much about it and grab my son’s 20 gauge. As soon as my coffee kicks in I realize it’s still leaning up against a tree where I’d drug the deer out. I didn’t tell a soul until it was back in my possession.

Set it on the edge of my truck bed on morning. We had just gotten back from a 16 day trip out west with various hotel stays and camping. I assumed I had left it somewhere we camped or a hotel employee had come across it and not reported it. A few days after I bought a replacement I found it in the ditch across the street.

I still have a keltec pf9 that I cant find. I'm hoping its still somewhere in my attic. I moved all of my guns to the attic while we were renovating after Ida. Its the only one I cant track down. Hoping it will show up when I eventually go up there and clean it out.

This is why I do not tote a gun everywhere I go. I have a hard time keeping up with my wallet and cell phone and neither one of those can end a life if I live it somewhere and can't find it and some miscreant or a child comes along and does. This is also why many people who do indeed carry a gun with them everywhere they go ought not to....if you ain't responsible enough to keep track of your firearms you ought not take them out of the safe for any reason other than using it and putting it back between uses.

Same here with a drill and impact driver set. I could see one of them going missing, but I needed it to remove and put a new mailbox on. When I went to buy the mailbox I grabbed one of the cheaper Ryobi sets at Home Depot. I'm fully expecting to walk in the garage one night this week and they'll both be sitting out in plain sight.
Last time I remember using it was a few weeks ago, and I had the socket adapter on it. My socket set, socket wrench, and adapter for the impact were all back in the toolbox, but no drill or impact driver to be seen.

Bought a Taurus Judge and it disappeared almost immediately. I tore the house and truck and office up! Ransacked both gun safes to no avail. Then by chance I was moving some of my gun boxes in closet next to safe and it was in the box on the shelf!

If we are responsible enough with them, then I assume it's okay?
