I am thinking of taking a duck hunting and fishing trip down to Pass a Loutre next week, and camping out for a night or two at one of the tent campgrounds.
I have read reports that say not to do it in an aluminum jon boat. I have a 13 foot boston whaler with 40hp on it. It is about as seaworthy as it gets for that size of a boat, but the older I get, the more I have learned not to venture out on new water without getting advice first.
Can anyone give any advice on if it is doable to get to one of the campgrounds that I could hunt around in this boat? I would be going alone too.

Absolutely NOT. This would be suicide but if you insist please let me know first so I can put out a life insurance policy out on you. A 13 ft whaler is beyond stupid.

Leaving Friday and camping out at the wma all weekend. We will be in a gray 23 hydrosport. Do the majic OB handshake and I'll give you some hunting secrets for down there.

I'll be at the camp from Friday to Tuesday anyone want to have a beer I'll be around. Ya'll be careful in the river this weekend it's gonna be windy Friday and Saturday.
As an FYI NO WAY in hell in a 13' boat.

Half of Louisiana will be there for the opening of the second split. We will be at the camp Sunday and Monday. I would do a 13 foot Whaler if the river was going to be calm or the back way through Zin Zin Bay

I'm not a big hunter, so most of my trips end up like this....

Thanks for all the advice on the 13 foot boston whaler, saved me a lot of headaches. I think I will try and bring down a bigger boat.

Lulz, it's the only place with ducks. Has Larry done the Dec survey yet?

Is there cell phone service out there at the camp grounds?

Most likely not. My AT&T service seems to start going out when I hit the head of the passes.

It's spotty south of head of passes. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Texts normally go through.
