Anyone been in a skeet shooting fundraiser?

Kids’ sports team holds an annual golf tourney to raise money. Realized lately we probably have more shooter dads than golfer dads. Anyone been in/organized a skeet shooting event as a fundraiser? Interested in cost, format, etc. TIA

I've shot in quite a few here in the Shreveport area. They have a great turn out most of the time.
$500 per team; 5 man team
Usually feed lunch after shoot is over.
They give out trophies for 1st-4th place, Top shooter, Top under age shooter.
Most of the time they also raffle off a gun to go along with the shoot.

Skeet shooting is quickly replacing a 5 1/2 round of golf in the oil field I can tell you. A lot more fun in my opinion.
Shot in a few dozen of them. Normally around $500 per team. Most tournaments have a fun warm up session. Usually 2 or 3 flights (skill levels). Basically it works off total team score.
You probably do have more shooters than golfers nowadays. Surprising how many people shoot.

I've shot in one probably 8 or 9 years ago for a church thing. Buncha different stations with skeet flying at different angles and heights. shite was fun as hell.

They are fun. Also they are usually good for at least one guy who gets all dressed up in the most expensive “sporting clothing.” But seriously, if you can’t have fun shooting skeet at a couple of different stations, there’s something wrong with you. They always raise good money. Never been involved in organizing.

I used to participate all of the time. I stopped going so other people could win.

talk to a local gun club, bridgeview in Port Allen is as close to BR as I know of, they will walk you through it, but when you call ask about "a sporting clays" shoot and not skeet

We shoot pretty much every weekend from March-October.
Pretty much 400/500 a 4/person team.
depending on cost to rent facility, cost of clays and give aways(shirts, hats or bags) you need at least 10/12 teams to make a good profit.

Talk to Eddie Baker (club manager) @ 225-223-6245. He'll work with you on dates, costs, organizing tips, etc.
He is also good about setting up a "soft" (easy) course so that beginners & first time shooters can break targets and have fun.

Good thing, I'd never hit a thing otherwise!

Covey Rise in Husser La does these events. You need golf cart or 4 wheeler to run the course. Takes about 1.5 to 2 hrs to complete the course. Great place to shoot and nice lodge to return to and have lunch

Look into the liability as well. My brothers baseball team last year raffled off a gun and they had to recall half the tickets at first to put the right legal language on them.

Sporting clays are fun fundraisers! Someone already mentioned Bridgeview in Port Allen. The other place in the BR area is Riverside which is north of Watson on the St. Helena Parish line. It's the most scenic by far! Every station is a different setting. For information on Riverside call Charlie at 225.405.9611. Have a look at the website below and there are events going on almost every weekend in the spring. My group is supposed to shoot an event at Bridgeview this Saturday but it doesn't look like the weather will cooperate. The caution I have about them is that unless the sponsor has someone at each station to keep score for you, as in a golf scramble, there's a lot of pencil whipping going on if you get what I'm saying.
