Saturday, November 26, 1994. Rainy afternoon in west Feliciana parish, shot my biggest 8 point. He was the 9th deer (second buck) I saw that rainy evening. I still don’t like hunting in the rain, probably why he’s the only one I ever killed in wet weather, lol.

They live outside their whole lives. A little rain doesn't bother them. I've killed them and seen plenty in rain.

Every time I think about deer in the rain I remember something from when I was a kid. I was about 6 or 7 and riding in the middle seat between my dad and his buddy down some country roads. A couple does were out feeding in a field in the rain and dad's buddy said he only wanted to look through his scope to see if they were bucks. About the time he got the rifle out the window of the truck he shot. I remember watching the deer fall as a mist of water came off her like some kind of angelic aura on impact. It was awesome.

I’ve killed several in a light rain. Never really seen many in a heavy rain.

I've seen a huge buck come out when it was pouring buckets. Raining so hard he couldn't see or hear me. I still don't know how he knew I was there. Possibly wind but the rain was falling straight down. He came out in the lane, ran straight away for 2 hops and back in the woods he went. Probably just scent checking scrapes I guess. After the rain a real nice 8pt came out from behind me.

Yes, and especially once rain stops, my favorite time to hunt.

I like riding in during a heavy rain and being in the woods when it stops. You can basically do whatever you want while it's driving rain.

I’ll take a sunny day over clouds or rain for ducks.

Two of the bigger deer I've ever killed 143" and 162" both came on days with drizzling rain. They were both cleaning up scarp and rub lines reapplying their scent everywhere. My wife and kids both have their biggest kills as rain was slowing down and tailing off. Same scenario. Dominate bucks cannot stand for their scent territories to go very long without keeping them dapped up. We hunt scrap and rub lines hard as rain is slowing or ending and for the next hours as much as possible.

Been chasing duck for 45 years. Hunted in every weather pattern imaginable, and I can honestly say that ducks are way less spooky on sunny days. It may be that they can see better when it’s cloudy, and can pick out hunters, plastic ducks, etc. Maybe when it’s sunny, they can’t see as well. More shadows to hide yourself, or being blinded by reflections off the water, I really don’t know. All I know is ducks are more apt to circle, circle and leave when it’s cloudy as opposed to decoying on the first or second pass in the sun. Some of y’all may have a different experience. I just know our whole crew is bummed when we see clouds rolling in.

I prefer sleet. Low clouds and spitting snow/sleet are some of my best hunts ever.

I actually have had great luck in drizzly rain deer hunting. Not in Texas, but SWLA and SE Arkansas. About to head to the lease to go park my self in my box for the afternoon

Son killed his biggest in a downpour. One afternoon He wanted to go get in the stand and I wasn’t going to say no. 10 minutes later the Bottom dropped out after we got in. Got real dark and right outside the stand 30 yards he walked out. Couldn’t believe it

Saw two this morning in the rain and wind

As far as ducks in the timber - sunshine and a little wind 100%
