Outlaw the things already. It’s not like you’re on a survivalist show and have to catch your food or die. Just go fishing. Fool a white perch with a jig.

Not rediculous, just respectful of the resource. The state motto should be “Sportsman’s Paradise, if we didn’t try to kill and eat every living thing”

This is Louisiana. We can kill and cook anything except a human and it is ok as long as we say a prayer before we eat it.

Yo-yo's aren't a problem if they are attended and run correctly. What makes me mad is driving up to an area to work a jig during spring spawn and seeing one after the other that has dead fish hanging above the surface. People need to trip them up if they aren't running them regularly. I much prefer catching them on poles but occasionally we will put a few out at night with the kids.

Fishing the lake or up one of the creeks?

We were on the Farmerville side of the big lake Friday, up in the pockets where the North Wind didn't stir the water up.

I have a camp up D'arbonne creek though and will be up there soon

Must be people with money. I always picked my yo yos up because people would steal them. At 3-4 bucks a piece I'm not leaving them anywhere.

I used to have 50 but now none. .

See the link above, you set them with a live shiner about 1/2" below the water, go back to the camp and drink.

About 2-3 hours later go run them, fish will be hanging with their heads pulled up. Re bait and repeat.

Good Times

It is time to put out the yo yos. Hopefully everybody runs their yo yos and picks them up when not fishing them.
Good luck, keep posting your results!

Run your yo-yo often after dark about every 2.5 hrs and about only 6 inches under water on them shiners and you will stay above the catfish and catch mainly Crappie and Bass. You will catch way more at night. We also put those cheap watch battery tea light candles from dollar tree by our yo-yo. zip tie to da limb and turn it on. (Don't tell everybody that secret) lol,

Start running them deeper as the sun comes up during the day

Don't feel too bad. I had to google these a while back myself. I don't think they are really used in alabama, at least not in my area.
