For those of you who have it, do you recommend it? I am looking to make some changes to my insurance policies and they seem to have good reviews.

If not them, who else would you recommend I get a price from?

I think Geico bought them out a couple of years ago

I have them. I haven’t made a claim but they were reasonably priced and backed by Geico so I went for it. I’m going on year 3.

We havent made a claim but they are really easy to work with. And if you have anything through Geico you can get a bundle discount.

Third renewal on my charter policy last year and have had no claims. Time will tell.

BoatUS offers free towing on water and highway they claim... pretty sweet deal.

I have that in my policy but i still have seatow, i have never seen a boatus boat on the water and I'd rather just pay $100 per year to not have to claim it if I need to be towed in a seatow only area.

I have all of my stuff (boat included) except for my house insured through Geico and I remember seeing something about BoatUS becoming part of Geico a while back, so that's probably right.

But I've had good dealings with Geico.

ETA I googled to check and see and BoatUS policies are underwritten by geico and you're directed to the BoatUS website when getting a quote so that's probably what I was remembering...

GEICO has teamed up with its subsidiary, BoatUS, to bring boaters a policy developed by experts, with the great service you expect from GEICO. Policies are underwritten by GEICO Marine Insurance Company. When you click "START QUOTE" you'll be taken to the BoatUS website for a secure boat quote.

Very good friend uses them on his 40' Catalina; which had a mechanical problem last year where the shifter uncoupled and failed to go into reverse, yet to all appearances shifted. Had a little collision with a 90'something foot Viking. And they covered both boats, no questions adsked just paper work, and he's still paying same rate. Just talked to him today and canceled a weekend due to weather. I do know their towing was a big reason for him going with them. He mentions it every time we see someone in need.

... he now sails like he's walking on eggs in fear of ever making another claim.

(you mileage may vary)

I was on a boat that had BoatUs and we lost power out of Venice. Had to use Seatow (no subscription) to get back in since BoatUS
doesn’t service the area. BoatUS cut a $2000 check and paid for the Seatow cost no questions asked.

Just sharing my experience.

Man thanks for sharing that. I called to ask about it and they’re pretty saying that boat us would come get me wherever. I knew that wasn’t true, I didn’t feel like I got a clear answer on if they’d cover Seatow picking me up. I guess now I know.

I have my boat insured with Geico/BoatUS. Price is roughly $30 / month. My boat sustained $15,000 worth of damage in hurricane Laura and they took care of me with no issues.

Appreciate the input

Y’all must have other geico policies to get those prices..? They quoted me $700 for the year on 18k coverage.

Limits? Deductibles? Credik score? Boat brand? Zip code? All factor into rate.

Progressive was much cheaper for me that BoatUS and I have had good claim experiences on Toys in the past.
