Delving into the snake world soon as a fun hobby for my son and I.
I’m on the Northshore. Anyone recommend a good local morph breeder nearby?

I don't know anything about your area. But, if you can't find a local breeder, look for upcoming shows in your area. They're usually about 50% ball pythons, so you shouldn't have an issue finding one.
Don't listen to the ignorant rednecks. Plenty of normal people have reptile pets. They're 100 times easier than a dog, and cooler than a fish.

Had one along time ago, low maintenance and fun to feed. Besides the initial investment they are pretty cheap to keep up with.

Call Adventure pets in Mandeville. Maybe they can point you in the right direction.

And when you get tired of it, kill it....don't release it in the wild.

never had a ball python but had a red tailed boa for a while. he was pretty cool.
I used to order pizza and get him out and let him wrap around my arm before i answered the door.... got lots of free pizza and lots of entertainment watching pizza guys fall down the steps running from my apartment.

They're cool. I'm not a huge fan of snakes, but have no problem handling one that's a "pet". I had a buddy who's dad was a herpatologist and they were into them... All snakes really.
The ones I see today look amazing compared to the standard ball pythons they bred and sold 20 years ago.

Yeah, I'm not real big on ball pythons, but they definitely have a ton of color and pattern morphs out there today. They might have oversaturated the market a bit, but that just means better prices for people who are into them, I guess.

That's just a few of the thousands of morphs available these days.

Not necessarily your area but search Bob Clark reptiles out of Oklahoma City.
Bob Clark Reptiles
He has a really nice facility and does guaranteed healthy shipping. I've personally bought a piebald morph, a bumblebee morph and an ivory morph from him. They're very professionally bred, raised and maintained. And he has a monster variety of morphs at very reasonable prices. Contact him via email if you don't see what you want because he likely still has it but just not posted on his site. Everything from $150 range pinstripe morphs to $15,000+ scaleless het morphs.
He's worth a look if nothing else. I still have all mine that I've bought from him and they're quite healthy.

Check with 50 Fathoms on Vets...ask for Mike if he is there or someone there can help. I don't know about other places in the area...I have just known Mike for a long time. Kept, sold, bread snakes for many years...ball python will be a good start. The are the rat snakes of the boa/python world with all the morphs....

If you go to 50 fathoms and buy a ball python or any snake you will pay double to triple the value. Mike knows his stuff but they are astronomically high on their prices. If you simply want to buy a snake and have the best selection possible you can use [link=(www.morphmarket.com)]Morph Market[/link]but you don't get to see or hold the animals before hand. Your best best is a local breeder. The Northshore has a good bit. Start with who I mentioned in my previous post.

I came in thinking this was a Colt thread. Disappointed.

Yea I dont know how his prices are...im sure high...most LFS are
But you do get to hold and look at them before buying. Some online places im sure have good pics. I just been out the game sooooooo long he was the only place I knew of in the area.
Or go to a reptile show. I dont know if they still have it but I went to a big one in FL back in the late 90s and was blown away at what out there. The volume and the species!
EDIT:
Yea go to that reptile show at least to just look and talk to breeders. Get cards and info at the least. Da Best Bank...my old stomping grounds

Hit one of the reptile shows - Repticon and HERPS have a show every 3 months or so in Slidell (Northshore Harbor), on the Westbank (Alario Center) or in Gonzales ( Lamar Dixon). Ball python morphs galore. It’s kind of agravating because I keep mostly carpet python morphs, but all you see at the shows are ball pythons everywhere.
ETA: Next HERPS is at Alario Center on March 23-24. Next Repticon show is Apr. 13-14 at Lamar Dixon. The HERPS shows are cool - most of the ones I’ve been to are “hot” shows - they have everything from cobras to gaboon vipers.
