Not a fan of .380 but if I owned one, that would be it. The 238 is a great shooter.

I have a Sig P238 bought for the same reasons you mentioned. It's a great little pistol in a 911 frame. That's a good price you should order it tonight.

I just think (much like .40 S&W) the cartridge's time has passed.

The pistols can be finicky, there aren't nearly the options in factory loaded ammo, what ammo there is for it isn't readily available and it underperforms compared to the subcompact 9mm pistols.

Having said that, I had an all metal Walther PPK that was a relative joy to shoot for being such a small (for its day) pistol.

I would consider one of the little Kahr pistols in 9mm before going all the way to a .380 (and I'm a huge Sig guy, ordinarily).

If you like the style but aren't dead-set on the color scheme, there's this:

I have a FireArms International Colt .380 clone from back in the 70s. I believe it uses mostly Colt parts. Looks great and functions great.

I think the .380 ACP ball round is perfectly adequate as a defensive round despite those that turn their nose up at it.

I have a S&W bodyguard for the few times I wear gym shorts during the summer. Rather have something rather than nothing. But I'm looking into upgrading to a micro 9mm.

I have a lcp I carry a lot. Especially jogging or riding my bike. It's light enough it doesn't pull down my shorts.. i carry a 45 if I'm going to be wearing normal clothes with a belt..

Yep, for pocket carry I haven’t found anything better. Sometimes pocket carry is the most practical option.
