Indeed, but if he’d have worn one piece of orange this wouldn’t have happened either.

You couldn't pay me to hunt on a WMA.

Props to the WLF agents that have to deal with this stuff.

Just as if not more likely to happen on private land. So far this year in LA it's 1-1

You know what the most dangerous thing deer hunters do? Fall out of trees.

This is a ridiculous comparison. How many times has a hunter killed another random hunter by falling out of a tree?

Just to clarify my previous post, I don't think all WMA's should ban rifle/primative seasons, I was talking about Sandy specifically since it is one of the few WMA's managed with an emphasis towards small game.

That's what binoculars are for

I used to carry binoculars but too many times I'd pick them up to check movement and it was a buck walking through. I no longer carry binoculars. I use my scope.

I'm not sure what goes on in other people's brains when they scope something, but mine has never told my hands to even take it off safety much less put my finger near the trigger until I know I am looking at a deer. The 2nd step of starting with binoculars is not any safer unless you are already trigger happy. It just isn't. What it does is lose you a chance when it is a deer and they aren't sticking around. Downvote away, but with my safety on and finger not on the trigger, no one is in danger. And if you're wearing orange, I definitely don't need to scope you because that shite is visible in the woods. I'm not hunting powerlines and fields with 100+ yards of view, ever. I'm in the woods looking 60-70 yards out, max.

I'm not even going to entertain this one. You're an idiot. Quit aiming your rifle at shite to ID it.

Yes, and why not take it a step farther and make all public land traditional archery only! That will really keep out the idiots who just want to take the easy route

The only thing I've ever done this for is a deer or trying to figure out if it's a possum or armadillo, or to watch turkeys. I've never scoped a person, there is no need because it is frickin obvious when it's a person and not a deer within 70 yards. I can see the difference. Things that are obviously not a human are not going to turn into humans upon looking through a scope. You're reading my post like I'm scoping people, never said that. Never have.

LDWF agents said that Garcia was shot by a .45 caliber rifle around 8:45 a.m. The hunter who shot Garcia told agents that he was shooting at a deer. The hunter added that he did not see Garcia behind the deer because of vegetation.

This smells fishy to me. I think the shooter simply shot at movement and killed Mr. Garcia. There was no deer.

If he was “shooting at a deer” and he shot a person, there is no possible explanation that gets him off the hook in my mind. Know your target and what’s behind it.
