your bodily functions are not luxuries. If you're too cold, hurt, starved-weak or sick, it wont MATTER how good your brain is, you're still effed. Why not just wise up and realize that I'm WAY ahead of you? Learn something, for a change.
a big man. in cold weather, needs about 2500 calories in order to maintain his bodyweight, doing minor things around camp. He can cut that to maybe 2000 calories per day if he just stays in his sleeping bag. A lb of your bodyweight is about 3000 calories. A lb of FAT is 3500 calories, but when you lose weight, it's not all fat. EVERYONE on this show has averaged losing 1/2 lb per day or more. Some have lost 1 full lb per day. So that's 1500-3000 calories per day that they did NOT eat. The baited net weirs do a LOT more for letting you lay around and conserve calories than does wading thru and squatting in cold water/muck, searching for clams. What works in the summer in Texas is almost certain to not work in the fall in the Pacific northwest. If your BMI, body mass index, drops below 17, you are pulled from the show.. The only way anyone has won this show is by going into it with 50+ lbs of
fat hanging on them. Had fowler not outweighed Carleigh by 70 lbs+, she'd have beaten him within 6 weeks, cause he kept wasting his calories on stuff that gained him nothing.
If you're not the biggest lard-arse on this show, by at LEAST 20 lbs over the next guy, you can't win unless you are MUCH more productive than the next guy. If you're a 140 lb woman and the biggest guy is 220 lbs, guess what? He's got 240,000 calories that you aint got. So you've got to be that much more productive than he is, and waste no calories, while he's got to be dumb enough to waste a LOT more calories. Carleigh came within 2 weeks of starving out ol Fowler, just by knowing to do little more than lay around in her sleeping bag. He caught 60 fish, she caught 6 fish. Neither one of them caught much else. He lost 73 lbs in 87 days. He "thinks' he could have lasted another 2 weeks, but he was worried that they'd pull him from the show for being underweight. So it was a near thing, despite his having so much of an advantage over her at the beginning, and despite his catching 10x as many fish. You have to catch MASSIVE amounts of fish, folks, in the first month or so, before cold weather drives them out of your reach. Trotlines and active pole and hook fishing cannot do that. Only having LOTS of netting using it optimally and being able to preserve your surplus food gives you a shot at not losing any weight for 90 days, and then you can last another month by fasting, assuming that you're not rail-thin when you start.

I'm the fricking master at finding razor clams. The wind and cold? Lol....
You're just a bit off, aren't you?
Eta....and yes, it is that easy. It's why whole families go out and dig around here. It's cheap and easy fun for all and it's impossible to not find any.
Eta....next you'll tell me that finding clams there is MUCH different since you know the land so well. You haven't even been there have you? Or even the NW?

Dude.
It's cool you have a hobby. Settle down though. If shite hits the fan, somebody who hasn't spent every waking moment of his life calculating calories and supplies is going to hit you with a stick and take your stuff when his own calculations (I feel hungry) tell him he needs to eat.

You and I have a different definition of what that is.
Vancouver island isn't that in oct/nov or ever.

dream on. I made my first silencer in 1980, and i'v e had Nvd goggles since 1990. Nobody's getting me with just a stick.
Like I said, you only ave 5 square miles of area in which to roam, so do the math. How much of that will be sea shore, hmm? How much of that sea shore, on Vancover island, will be have clams? How much wading will you do on frozen muck, when you're losing half a lb per day? Facts are what they are. Your bs has been tried, for 3 seasons, and didn't work, for anyone. If there's red tide at all, it wont work. If you're not on a sea shore, it wont work. If the mud is frozen, it wont work. If you aint got enough calories to keep moving, it wont work. If there's not LOTS of clams on YOUR segment of beach, which you do NOT get to pick, it wont work. The netting works anyplace that there's even a decent sized creek. So do the treblehooks and
draglocks, and the netting wrapped boxtraps. So you're just being stupid about it, cause I thought of all this and you didn't

yeah, right, like 34F 30-40mph gusts of wind and rain aint horrible, Like having all the wood be soaked aint horrible. Like having to eat nothing but fish and kelp juice for 3 months aint horrible. You've done nothing of the kind. You're just another internet blowhard.
and it's NOT "just a show". it's a shot at clearing 1/4 mill, and clearing another 1/4 mill in the next couple of years, from everyone who'll want to train with you, read your books, watch your vids. When you know how to invest that 1/2 million properly, it's the key to a wonderful live. People dont even know that the US has averaged 5% inflation every year since I started watching it, which was when Nixon took us off of the gold standard. Gold was $135 an oz in 1973, now it's over $1300 an oz. Back then, factory work, making cars, cleared $4 an hour. That would be like clearing $40 an hour today, which would mean you'd have to be grossing $70 an hour. Who's doing that, for putting nuts on bolts, hmm?
To have a decent life in the US today, you have to gross 200k a year. For 30k a year, you can have a fine life in the third world. I can clear that on my 2 boarding houses, without my being here. :-). I can also clear it on my pensions. But somebody out there can go from working on drywall or driving a truck to retirement, if they win this show, without being fat and lucky.

Your investment ideas are worth studying once you're off this great earth of ours. Please let us know how Cambodia life is.
This thread hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
And I hate to break it to you, but 250k isn't retirement money. Its "buy you a nice house and live comfortably while working" money

You said a few times they won’t pick you because you’d win, cost them $.

so I can type and write much better than you. So can millions more people. What of it? If you believe that lots of people wont jump at the chance to rent rooms for $100 a month, you're nuts. Ditto if you think that 50k wont buy big old houses in OK, or if you think that you can't get vets to do a VA home loan for you. It's been done many times. VA just guarantees 80% of your loan. The bank may still demand a down payment, of course. You have much more control over your investment in this manner. Stocks, bonds, all that paper bs, you have no control at all. OK property tax is just 1% per year. Your monthly payment, insurance and tax on 50k is just $500 a month.

Yet somehow folks managed to walk from Siberia to the US and entire tribes of folks manage just fine in Alaska and have for thousands of years without a single item on your list.
It is a fake arse TV show just like every other "reality" show.
