I went to a NWR on a Wednesday afternoon. This place is like 14,000 acres I think. One truck in the parking lot. I walked to the 2.1 mile marker, then headed into some thick woods. I walked right under the only other guy there.

Go salmon fishing and you'll see a scene.

Worse on the bank, but even on the water it can be a huge shite show.

it's common courtesy not to set up 50 yards from somebody. if they are there first, find another spot. just because you can doesn't mean you aren't an arse hole for doing it.

About 10 yrs ago I decided to try Alexander State Forest for the early primitive weapons weekend. Scouted a place as far back as I could get, behind an old clearcut on the opposite side of an old logging road. Got in 45 minutes before daylight to make sure I'd get there, not knowing what I was in for.

Before daylight came, 13 flashlights walked down the same road on the opposite side of the cut. As soon as the sun came up good, I gtfo and haven't been back since.

I know, and I learned.

My only other experience was on Beouf WMA duck hunting, probably 15 yrs ago. We went in when allowed, got set up, built a fire, and waited at least 2 hours for shooting time. You have to wave people off with a flashlight to let them know you are there, and most are respectful.
When daylight came and we all got ready to shoot ducks, a couple of young flatbill mofos passed us up on 4 wheelers and set up about 100 yards past us on the same little pond. After they skyblasted a couple of groups while we were trying to work them, we returned the favor when the birds would go into them. Words were said, and things could've gotten shitty, but I just let them know if we couldn't hunt, then they couldn't either. It wound up ok, but piss on a WMA.

If you set up 50 yards from me. It's going to be a uncomfortable morning.

Are there no laws down here about distance between hunters? I grew up in VA and do almost all of my hunting there still, and it's illegal to set up within 500 yards of another duck hunter.

If you hunt much in LA, you'll find out that a lot of them don't give a rat's arse about a law.
Not saying that about anyone on here - just my experience with coonasses and rednecks.

ETA: and I'm about the biggest of the latter that you'll find.

I don't think that will ever happen in Louisiana

Yeah I get alot of hunters dont care about the law one bit,we have plenty of folks like that up in VA too. The distance between hunters is followed though, I guess since it's a respect for others thing. I could never see setting up close to someone else, gonna frick up there hunt and mine.
