I have the Glock 41A, 45ACP, with the TLR 8 light. Smooth, accurate and recoil like a 9mm. Long slide, double recoil, easy to shoot.
Originally designed as Glock's competition pistol.

They are out of stock ATM, but keep an eye on theofficerstore.
I picked up a LE trade in Sig P220 with 3 mags for just over $500 a year or 2 ago. They have been back in stock a couple times since I purchased mine. The condition i rec'd was better than expected, but the shipping was a bit slow.

Been looking at the G21 and th G30
I have/had the G21, G30sf and G36. I like my G21 better, still have the old girl. I also enjoy the hell out of my HK45 Tactical. Both run like a well oiled machine.
For suppressor use its hard to go against the HK offerings. I just wish HK would offer an optic cut. If going to suppress, go with the HK.
If you go with the HK45, the fullsize and compact have different stipling on the grip. The compact feels nicer and is easier on the skin than the fullsize spiderman looking grip. It does work good but not as comfortable.
Either one works great so if ya can, see if you can shoot both of them.

I’ll 2nd the Ruger SR1911…..full size 1911s are the smoothest shooting .45s IMO and the Ruger fits that bill for me as well.

You definetly can not go wrong with a Ruger SR 1911.Great shooting weapon at a very reasonable price. There are a lot of better 1911's,I have a few,but the Ruger is as reliable as any other one I have,And I am not scared to scratch it,or toss it in the glove box of my side by side, tractor etc.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. If it's for fun shooting at the range, any decent 1911 will do just fine. On the other hand, if it's for self defense, I don't think an off-the-shelf 1911 is the right answer. Why? Because traditional (mil-spec) 1911s do not feed hollow-points well. Oh, but you can polish the feed ramp, and ..., and ...! Yes, you can do those things, but then it's not an off-the-shelf 1911! You can buy some 1911 derivatives that will feed hollow points, but they'll likely be very pricey.
Sticking with 45 ACP, but dropping 1911, opens up a bunch more options at reasonable prices. I carry a Springfield XDS in 45 ACP. No, it's not a 1911. But, it feeds hollow points just fine. It feeds anything I've put into it. It's been extremely reliable (no FTF, FTE).

There is no reason at all to spend $1200.
I paid under $600 for 15 Rd double stack DA/SA FNH .45. great gun wish I had never sold it.

Anyway. I’m wondering if y’all have a sub $1200 .45 that you like and is reliable. The only one(s) I don’t want for now are long slides
I have 2 Springfield Operator's. One in .45 and one in 9mm. Best bang for your buck in the $1100 range. They are really good guns for the money.

Springfield Operator's
I had to settle for my Range Officer...wanted the Operator for the rail but my Range Officer is pretty damn nice. I see SA has cancelled the RO and now it looks like the Mil Spec has taken its place. TRP looks good too.

Springfield made a Range Officer Operator. They are no longer in production but can be found on GB for $700-800.

Springfield or Magnum Research. Both are great options for the 900 - 1,200 price range.

I was in your boat a while back. I’m not a big 1911 guy but love 45ACP. I had it narrowed down to the Glock21, and HK, a Walther, and a FN. I forget which exact models. All had glowing reviews but unfortunately I couldn’t find anywhere to rent them. Still haven’t bought one. Guess my comment is useless lol

I have a Colt 1911 (all original and numbers all match) in what I'd call 9.5 out of 10 condition. Handed down from my father years ago. I will never part with it and to shoot it is a joy!

What's the difference with the mil spec?
Posted on 7/12/24 at 9:24 pm to HTX_Bengal
Idk the price but I have an HK USP .45 that’s my favorite handgun that I own. It’s reliable and shoots like a dream.
