Go great with my $600 net and $800 ice chest

Northern Tool awhile back had a bunch of Tekton pliers in the bargain bin for $2. I bought 5 pairs, so I'm good for the next decade.

*disclaimer* I do not own any $300 pliers
But if I fished offshore as a deckhand, they’d be the first purchase I made. Try to dig a 12/0 circle hook out of an inch of solid muscle in a pissed of AJ’s mouth with pliers that have ANY give in the jaws. Aluminum pliers flex so much that it’s almost impossible to grip and turn the hook. Steel ones do ok, but will disentigrate in that environment. Also, offshore the only thing more annoying than having to dig through compartments in a rocking boat every time you need to cut braid or leader is when your pliers won’t cut and just chew on the braid.
Like I said, I can’t justify it as someone who fishes a few times a year, but they’re tools for a certain job. Not all that different from a contractor paying top dollar for a nice drill. You use it dozens of times a day, day in and day out, so you want it to be built to that standard, and for it to be fixed no questions asked if it does fail for some reason.

If they come with a window sticker I'm in.
So I guess I could get two stickers for pliers -- one for Van Stall and one for Harbor Freight.

I have donnmar pliers and let me tell you they are worth every penny. I’ve had them for 6 years now I think, they don’t bend, they cut wire, braid, and mono like butter. Their customer service and warranty is incredible. For the life of the pliers you can send them back and have them refurbished. When you spend a lot of time offshore, they’re worth every penny. One of the best pieces of fishing equipment I’ve ever purchased, there’s absolutely no comparison between them and the cheap aluminum pliers. And they’re made in America.

Calcutta makes a nice set of pliers as well.

I've fished with a guide that has 2 pair on his boat.

I have a Gerber pair that have been with me for over 20 years of inshore and offshore fishing.
If anything ever happens to them, I will buy a replacement pair that day.

Not sure I understand the question.
He keeps one in his boat and one on his side, both on a lanyard. He does a lot of surf fishing and would guess that's why he sports 2. He fished 310 days last year. I fished about 11 so I will keep my $30 knock offs and replace them when I lose or break them.

what makes these worth the $300?
I agree. But then again I won't pay that much money for an ice chest either, and we all know people buy the shite out them.

So it is indeed lanyarded to his nut to make sure he doesn’t lose it, lol

I have a pair of those, great pliers. I use and abuse them. I just broke one of the line cutters trying to cut something metal that I shouldn’t have been, but I think it can be replaced

I’m surprised y’all don’t have a container fill of them headed this way from China....

Let me know when this happens!!!
I don't fish enough to justify $300, but it sure is aggravating when you twist a pair of cheap ones trying to get a hook out and use them the rest of the day.

We could take a walk through everyone’s house and garage and laugh at the “overpriced” purchases.
The making fun of Yeti purchasers shtick is getting tiresome.

the reasoning behind them makes sense if you fish a lot. I would never buy them but I understand why some folks would now. I'd still poke fun at somebody who bought them to fish with once a year and showed them off, though.
