Win 94 20” shooting 170g. At 60 yds.
Hit about 9 inches low. Rear sight adjustment maxxed out. Front sight height is .575

A .370 front ought to do it , or not

Do you some trig and figure it out baw. Measure the back sight and front sight hight above the bore and draw a triangle out and see.

Something seems very off there though. I've never had factory irons be very far off on anything.

Two options.

Lower front sight. Don’t know if it’ll be enough.

Put a peep sight on the rear. (Skinner Sights) Lots of vertical adjustment room.

Typically those are shot from horse back while on a full gallop. I don’t know that sights will help you much.

This. Is this a new gun? Does it group well at 9" low? My brother bought a used rifle that shot like crap only to find out someone had it in a truck during an accident and the barrel was bent ever so slightly.

I never really shot for a group. But the one shot was very careful, sandbagged, shot between breaths, etc.

My dad’s 1983 Sears Ted Williams
( Win 94 top eject ). He passed 2021 and i got it and his 1983 9 pt.

Third option - find an experienced shooter and find out if POA and POI actually differ. And if so, by how much.

I know how to do it. I’m just busy right now, and hadn’t had the time yet to get serious. But i know that a lower front was needed, for now because even the 150’s required the rear to be at the top of the elevator.

I put a Weaver side mount on my Winchester 94. I enjoy it much more now.

Most 94s have a front to rear sight radius of 17". If that's the case, 0.370" would be way too much. Around 0.500" would be optimal.

I had the opposite problem with my Marlin. With the rear sight as low as it goes, I was shooting 5-6” high at 50 yds.
I put a scope on it, but one day I’ll pull it and hunt with iron sights before my eyes reach their 5th decade. I put a Range Point Precision peep sight on a 22 and love it.

But you said you're basing all this on a one-shot group. Sound like you need an experienced shooter to shoot a five round (minimum) group.

This tells me that you are not an experienced shooter, as an experienced shooter knows what parallax is, and 2 expert shooters can have very different POA from the same rifle.
