Wonder why BWT are so low? Hopefully someone has a reason seems like they have been highly successful breeders for many years running hope this isn't a long term trend. I really enjoy teal season and 6 teal hope we don't loose it next year.

i dont really think that the duck numbers matter. I usually just go hunt on opening day and opening day after the split.

I talked to a friend of mine who is a guide in Canada not too long ago and he said that everything west of Manitoba was very dry and not so be surprised if normally good breeders do poorly this year so it makes sense I guess

Are they just going to dwindle to nothing eventually?

Doesn’t matter because DU will keep them up north anyways no matter how many ducks there are

Man I just cant see this happening. Staying at 1 long term is the only realistic option. If you make them off limits you set up people for failure. Early morning hens are damn near impossible to distinguish species.

Not to be ugly, but I’m glad I gave up duck hunting years ago. I was so tired of worrying about breeding grounds and “duck numbers”.

My mom owns some land in east Texas that has a bunch of flooded timber that connect to Caddo Lake and holds tons of mallards and wood ducks and my step-dad said it best years ago...”frick a duck; you kill your limit and you still ain’t got shite.”

It takes a lot of ducks to equal 1 deer.

Lol. I have duck hunted all my life, in some of the best duck hunting places in the south and I can think of maybe 2-3 times we’ve shot a pintail hen without knowing what it was.

I got tired of trying to convince myself that they tasted good. Plus they take up so much room in the freezer; there's no easy way to stack them like packs of deer meat.

If a duck taste like shite you are doing something wrong.
