yes. i had the suunto traverse. i got sick and tired of them breaking. whether it was the bands or the watch buttons something was always breaking. my last 2 broke literally a month out of warranty. My traverse broke on my way to Jackson. so i picked this one up there. love it. Battery life is ridiculous if you don't use GPS. i get about 5 weeks on a charge. haven't used GPS enough to test a full battery charge on it.

userface on this Garmin is the easiest ive used. its easy to read and has a lot of options. i haven't used the garmin app to match it to my phone so i can't speak to that. i would def recommend it. its pricey but they screwed up when they checked me out so i got it for the price of the fenix 2

Jesus dude, custom rifle with a Nightforce scope, guided hunt in the backcountry. Are you a Rockefeller?

Nice bull, but go kill one like I have on a self guided hunt on public land, and then I'll really be impressed.

Elk hunting can be addictive. The mountains are absolutely beautiful to hunt.

Congrats on the trip.
Sure makes it hard to concentrate on work.
More than a little bit jealous.

frick off.

All I'm saying is, I've done it the hard way, so I know what kind of effort goes into it. Go kill a bull self guided on public land, then have guys show you pics of their "trophy" bull killed on private land guided hunts (not that the OP did this) and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Like a guy I know showing me pics of this huge bull he killed on private land in CO. He tells me the guide drives them to a blind in an alfalfa field, which borders the national forrest. Just before sunset, a big bull walks down the side of the hill with a group of cows to feed, and he pops him. My comment to him, "Nice bull, but my mother could have done that. That's just target practice."

Did you kill yours with a recurve? Then I'd be impressed

It's stories and pictures like these that make this board damn good. Glad you shared it!

Maybe one day later in life I'll be able to make a hunt like this a reality... It's cool to day dream about it, and pictures like that make me want to experience even more!

Not trying to impress you. I openly said I didn't have the experience and I had never big game hunted. I also mentioned I realized I was very lucky to have been able to take a shot on a bull like that. I'm just sharing my experience with the others. This experience just so happened to turn me on to big game hunting. Which in turns adds another person contributing to the industry. Im not a Rockefeller by any means. I work my arse off for what I have and if I can buy a rifle that will better my chances at bringing home an animal on a hunt I paid a lot of money for then I'm going to do it.

Thanks for posting the pics. I've been to Wyoming and being in the mountains gave me kind of an "out of body experience." It's hard to explain unless you've been there.
About how much did the elk weigh live and how much meat did you get from it? How did you transport the meat back home without spoiling?
