Is that a reliable engine historically?

There's a family owned mechanic shop in my town that works on nothing but Toyota and Lexus. I was having them replace the CV boots on my wife's 4runner not long ago and told them I was thinking about moving from my 4.7L Tundra to the 5.7L. The biggest hesitancy I had was the stone cold reliability of the 4.7. They said that yes the 4.7 is the GOAT but the 5.7 is so close behind that the difference is not worth mentioning unless you really like to get into nitpicking. I ended up selling my 4.7 Tundra for a 5.7 version and couldn't be happier.

So in short, that sounds like a smoking deal and the 5.7 is a great engine

Hell 23K miles isn't even really broken in yet

I've had two 4.7s go to 300K and have three 5.7s now. Both are great, the 5.7 is considerably better for towing

Solid engine. Just avoid transmissions with more than 6 gears.

The only issue I've seen that's somewhat prevalent is the secondary air injection pump failing.

There's an aftermarket company that makes a plug and play bypass for it. I think it's about $500 and a novice mechanic could install

My 2013 has almost 200k miles and there is no way I would sell it for that! Buy it, drive it for a decade or two.

Ill buy it. Need a truck for my son

Ive got a 2010 with 376k and a 2016 with 176k. Follow routine maintenance guide. The one with 376k i had to change the $2 O-ring between the oil filter housing and block about 3 months ago. Only non-routine maintenance on it.

Same, in fact my single biggest worry about my 5.7 Tundra is that it'll get totaled by some soccer mom texting and driving and then I have to start over to find another one. I took over a year to find this one and not eager to resume that search.

What size tires are y’all running? I have 2014 that I have been contemplating putting a small lift to run bigger tires. Just looking to see what other people have done

My 2016 with stock suspension came (used) with 275/70-18 roughly 33x11 so 1" taller than stock, no rubbing at all and I'll likely stick with that size when it's time for new tires

Got 250 on mine. Had a few things. Rear engine seal. Upper valve leak. Intake air issue. Alternator but that’s not the engine. Small leak now that I’m leaving alone. That said, it’s still running well and I drive it like it’s got that many miles.
