OK people, lets get back to what happen here.
I had posted here a few times about running the river down there.
People, ANY TIME THERE IS A COLD FRONT THAT PUSHES THRU, THE RIVER WILL HAVE A ROLL BACK CHOP WAVES. The waves will be real tight/close together.
I had waves breaking over the bow of a 32' sportsfisher boat in the pass.
Plan your trips around weather and tides when running down river.
I knew the weather was going to blow Sunday,we canceled our trip.

Fish IMO after most fronts there is a calmer place in the river normally the East side against the rocks, but with the right front it can come straight down the river, not fun at all.
Normally the worst place to be after a strong front is in Main pass or Baptiste Collette (where the majority of duck boats go) as the NE winds after a front come straight down them and they get flat out nasty. I've been in real life 5' seas in main pass after a very strong front.
On Sunday on the East side of the river it was VERY calm against the rocks on the east side. From those pictures looks like those guys were on the west side, on that day the rough side of the river.

Yep, west side for sure.
Kind of planning a trip this weekend, per weather, down river. But thinking of not going again.
I been under the weather and I don't think I could handle a trip like that.

East side was almost slick on Sunday while the west side was 1-2 footers. We ran down river around 5:30-6:00 am to help some friends at PAL campground. We came back up river around 9. Wind slacked off a good bit but the river was still nasty.

Even if you ride the side of the river that's right with the wind, you still have to cross the river at some point. It sucks that learning the hard way is a really dangerous and expensive lesson down there.

I get that. Reason why we didn't sink our shite. Our six mud rigs were empty and our four big boats hauled the gear. Big boats by all or near the little boats is the only way to go.

Crowd would have been thinner if everyone had to be in pirogues. Keep them old farts at the house.

When the crowds get thin license sales go down and the state can't afford to manage the WMAs and they end up somebodies private lease. Look at what Plum Creek did with the properties that were Georgia Pacific WMA and Union WMA.

I see what you are saying but the state seems to keep buying land for WMA's. That being said If you have the money to purchase thousands of additional acres then why do you not have money to manage it? I mean how much does it cost to run these WMA's. They should be making money all day everyday on these properties. I would assume they don't pay property tax but I could be wrong. sooooo....
thin the crowds.
