If Louisiana really wants to get serious, we’d have a 1 buck, 3 doe statewide. But clearly we are continuing towards mediocrity.

This is the way.

2 bucks 3 does, with buck rule: 1 any antlered, and 1 8pt or larger
5 deer are PLENTY.....you cant fit 5 deer in normal freezer space....who eats 5 deer per year?

Get serious about what?

Are the majority of hunters in these areas coming close to 2+ bucks? Im in area 4 and im fine with 2 bucks

Exactly. Believe it or not most hunters do not care one bit about trophy deer
If you want that, the best advice is to own enough land to manage your way or find a lease that shares your same views of “management”. Even the best hunting leases out there have differing views of what management looks like

I hunted my early years in my home state of La. and could sometimes go an entire season and maybe see 1-2 deer. Moved to Tx. 35 years ago, literally 30 min. from the La. State line, and we see them constantly in SETX. I have them in my backyard. It's definitely a management issue. Hunters shoot at a moving bush in La.

I’m in area 4. Make it 1 any antlered and 3 does. I’m just looking for meat in la.

quote:they absolutely care about harvesting deer which outside of maybe 10 parishes it’s pretty damn hard to do because of these liberal bag limits. But continue with the bs that Louisiana is “sportsman paradise”. Get out and see other states and you’ll see how far behind this state is.

Which means what to you?

So LA needs to decrease bag limits so less deer will get harvested, so that people can harvest more deer?

I’m in area 4 and have no problem with two bucks. I do have an issue with 4 total. We had to join dmap just to be able to manage our numbers. Dealing with tags and jawbones is a pain in the arse.

How do you not understand this. What do you think you should do to increase bird numbers? Decrease the bag limit for a few seasons

I’m in Area 4 and most of the older guys in my club will never shoot a doe but will happily take a spike and 4pt every year to say they “bucked out.”

Yeah. Why is LA not like TX, AR, or MS or AL or MO?
There are places in LA similar but the state as a whole wants to kill and eat anything that walks or crawls
It has gotten better, but still.

To then increase it again, rinse and repeat?
What do yall think the people who are actually filling their tags are doing different since it’s so hard to kill one. Got a horseshoe up their arse?

Baw, there’s a thing called carrying capacity. You can’t just let deer run wild (so to speak)
