Who makes the best? What do you recommend? I have a series 70 Gold Cup Colt 45. Love that gun but the bright blue grips are nice but I think I'd like some pearl white or wood grips better. Don't want to put junk ones on it.

VZ grips

Not sure they’re the best but they’re up there.

If you want wood grips that really stand out check out Altamont. I have their grips on a few guns and get a LOT of compliments on them.

Altamont

I also prefer to use these with 1911 grips:

I have VZ's on mine, started with a set of standard scooped Operator grips then switched to a set of scooped Slimline Frags.

Are your “blue” grips aftermarket as I’ve never seen blue grips on a series 70 GCNM. I have seen blue G10 grips on recent production NM pistols. IMO, you need some grips like this for your 1911

Great taste! I have the same olive drab & black LOKs on my SW 1911. Just got a new set of grips from LOK for my Beretta 92. Customer service is great. If you have any questions & call them, the owner will probably be who answers. Not the lest expensive, but the fit & finish hasn't any required any additional work on either gun.

Got blaze has the correct answer, unless you’re a pimp daddy.

here's a photoshop ... Rosewood Diamond grips with allen screws ... I would ditch the flathead screws and go with Allen. Your pistol is a modern version of the original Series 70 that was produced from 1970 - 1983. IMO, the wood grips make it look more vintage like an original Colt. Just my opinion, buy what you like.
