6-8 years ago I would not be recommending Kimber, but they have really turned their QC around and they have a ton of options in the $1500 range. Baer also gets you one option in the $1500 range. I would look at the Baer and the Kimber of your choosing at that price point.

Unless you want a safe queen, id look around online and buy someone else's safe queen.

For new.. I agree with the Dan Wesson Valor.

Which model is in the $1,500 range? I didn't know they had any under $2,700 or so.

Op would need to up his budget. You can find them for $2500 but your not going to get one for $1500 unless it's been through hell and back.

Yeah I'm kinda to the point where I want something a little more accurate than the tiger and maybe something I can show off a little more. That's why my budget was around 1500. I knew the tiger would be suggested and suspected the dan Wesson to be the next favorite in that price range. So it will ultimately come down to which route I want to go

I could not be happier with my Dan Wesson, fwiw. I plan to buy a few more in time.

You already made the decision you want to spend the $1500. Go get a Dan Wesson. I have a specialist 9mm could not be happier with that pistol. It's on a different level than the Ruger. Eventhough the Ruger is a fine 1911.
