Smithdale Ms
15 but feels like 3.
Sitting in front of the fireplace drinking coffee with my middle son. He’s going through his pictures from last night and ready to hunt .
No deer for us today . Heading to my little sisters for the day .
We will be back in the woods tomorrow afternoon.
Good luck to those who braved the cold.

6:40am one of the 2 good 8pts came in at 20 yds. I flipped off safety on crossbow but before i could shoot he leaped off. Not spooked but i guess he saw no does in food plot and corn so he bolted. So exhilarating but deflating.

Woodville here also…
Setting in box looking down powerline. Four does munching corn, I’m hoping a good buck will come sniffing around. Thank god for hand warmers !

Yall ever seen the movie Tommy Boy when he says “lets me tell you why I suck as a salesman…”. Well here is why I suck as a backyard buck hunter…i was fighting with the stupid safety on the crossbow and when i finally got it flipped off he was here. In an instant he turned and provided no shot.

Temp was 24 in my truck
Sat in a box from 545 till 9am
Wind was blowing like a whore on bourbon street
Was warm, had a thermos of coffee and a honey bun but forgot my phone in the truck.
Sitting on a stand with no phone sucks.
Didn’t see a deer , I think our deer hibernate below 25 cus even night time pics ended at 2am

When I woke up the wind chill was -22. I'm not that mad at any wild game.

That said I have clients Monday so I'll be cutting open holes and running an ice eater on Christmas

I’ll be in my climber in the morning with the wind being significantly down. I’m sure I’ll be regretting that decision at some point lol!

Back in north Ga to visit. I have done close to 5,000 guided trips on this lake. Never seen the water temps dropping so fast. I was hoping to get out for a day of fishing before I head back south but no way that is going to happen

The water cooling and the 25mph winds made the lake look like it was on fire

Hope this works

Made a stand change. Moved to a ground blind on a ridge overlooking a creek bottom. Saw a doe and 2 yearlings on my way in. They just watched me walk by and continued feeding through

Just talked with a coworker who I convinced to stay out the wax this morning. One of his buddies sent him a snap in a helicopter. They were the 10th boat coast guard rescued and there were a bunch more.
