One negative I see with them (GM) is the cost of the oil pump belt replacement. Kind of sucks to have to pull the transmission at 150,000 miles.

I have had 2 eco diesels. One 2015 2wd, now a 2020 4wd. Both are very good trucks. I used to drive one trip a week that ended up being over 500 miles for the day. What’s funny is the 2020 4WD got better mileage on the hwy than the 2wd. 27mpg with the cruise on 75mph

So you are the dumbass driving his 3/4 ton like a race car weaving in and out if traffic. Not sure why there are so many of you around there are much better (and safer) vehicles for driving fast.

24v 5.9l Cummins is at around the powe and torque of those new small diesels and had no problem with big loads. But once you get to those bigger loads over 10k your motor and gearing is just a small part of the equation. I would worry more about the 1/2 ton truck getting pushed the suspension getting overloaded and not stopping like I would want it to. Small diesel is perfect for your boat or 25ft camper. Pulling a double car hauler stop looking at half ton pickups.

the point inm trying to make is i want something different than you. How is that hard to understand?

Hell i had a 3L TDI Touareg that was incredible and zippy. I want that upscaled into a 1/2ton... yes as it is it is plenty of power for a half ton but i want to have more incase i ever need it. If that involves these truck markers to put a turbo on it why not? After having a 6.2L in my truck now i wont ever get anything less in a truck. Its nice having that get up and go when i need it.

I knwo you know your stuff on diesels but someone with a name "DownshiftAndFloorIt" idk know why you are on the team of.... "oohh thats plenty of engine for you, you dont need anymroe"

Non-existant market, as the 5.0 cummins proved.

cause no one wants a nissan truck

SO what makes me an idiot because i want more than low end torque? hell the old 4.8 gas motor had "plenty" of power for anyone towing with a half ton.

It also got like 8mpg towing

You're missing the whole point of half ton diesels...mpg + towing ability.

Most adults don't need (or want) a Ford lightning for an everyday truck

Fast
Economical
Towing Capacity

You get to pick 2 of those in the 1/2 ton truck market, you don't get to have all 3.

I think he wants all 3

Agreed.
These manufactures aren't here to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, into R&D for a market of +-5% of truck buyers.
The other 95% in the market for a PICKUP TRUCK, mostly don't care if they can spin the tires or the 0-60 time and if they do, they'll be looking at aftermarket parts/tunes. Hell, most probably wouldn't be in the market for a truck period.

They only reason I'd consider the more expensive, crappier mileage, larger diesel option would be for the increased towing capacity. Then again, if I am regularly towing that much weight that I need more than a 10-11K Lbs capacity, I would be in the 3/4 ton market. But I don't and am not; which is why I drive a half ton. So give me the smaller diesel that is cheaper and far better on fuel.

Hell, I'd have to imagine that most people only look at diesel half tons, are willing to be early adopters, and pay a little more for it than an equivalent gas model, is because they are concerned about mileage in the first place. It's why they are even a thing in my opinion.

but thats ok for people just towing a little bit in a 1/2ton... if they want better mpg that should get a 3/4 ton right? thats what yall told me earlier.

i do think it is funny you are comparing the sales of an option on a NISSAN truck to the whole truck market. Hell id bet 50% of the truck market doesnt even realize Nissan makes a truck.

Man I wish I had time to respond to all of this. The market is FINALLY getting it most of the way right, and you want something else.

What do you want? A 6 liter diesel making 1000 ft-lbs of torque in a half ton truck with 7 tons of towing capacity and a 10 speed transmission that runs 12's and gets 40mpg?

It would have to be made out of aluminum, and would spit chunks all over the highway at MAYBE 10,000 miles, and would cost 150k dollars, and they'd sell 10 of them.
