Werenski is awesome and finally getting the recognition he deserves for his past two seasons, especially. Next Olympics assuming things remain the same I would easily put him as captain.

On another note, it's fun watching Canadians moving the goal posts into another area code already. We've gone from "Yeah but x amount more NHL players are Canadian" to "Yeah but x amount more gold at world juniors" to "Yeah but world championships doesn't matter" to "But 4 Nations!!" to "Yeah but 1980.."

The game evolves, and we're witnessing what will likely be the greatest core of USA Hockey for some time.

I wonder if NHL will bring back the 4Nations either in 2028 or 2029. Definitely need more international competitions where it's best on best.

I think doing it the year before Olympics is the right way you get people hyped for Olympics hockey. 4 Nations seemed to attract a lot of casual follower attention and deservedly so. Not being under IIHF control they really should add both a Russian team and Europe to gather a team from multiple countries where on their own, as shown in the Olympics, you couldn't fill an entire roster with NHL level players.

Slovakia
Czechia
Switzerland
Germany

And this other thing Canadians are bitching about. The supposed too many men on the ice - the sixth one is a safe distance (and going towards) at the bench. If the Olympics rule is the same as the NHL then it's not a penalty. That player going off the ice can not touch the puck, or else it's a penalty is how I'm remembering it. They're just grasping at straws and embarrassing themselves.

Literally best case scenario. Scored the goal right in front of McDavid. Absolutely glorious.

They need to bitch about Mackinnon trying to shoot a point blank laser on a damn near empty net past Bucky towards the end of the 3rd. Our goalie was so in his head he thought he had to shoot it that hard to make it and ended up missing the net entirely.

Here's the official description of the ruling to justify too many men on ice (not) being called:

A penalty is called if an extra player participates in the play or hinders an opponent during a line change.

Did the alleged offending player touch the puck on that play in question? I don't think so.

All I got to watch was the third period, and we were playing defense almost the whole time. I’m kind of surprised to see that we won. Way to go, USA!!!
