Thank goodness the tide only made it that far in the Spartina patens marsh pictured. A few days of moderate east winds would push the water level higher and oil would cover the entire marsh

S. patens can be sprayed with microbes and then burned during the winter. However it has a shallow root system and an oiled covered surface would kill the roots over a period of time.

what does this have to do with anything?
Dumb. The DW Horizon was a floater. No jacket as shown in the pictured display. Proof that the media have no clue about what they speak.

That's pretty funny, actually. I didn't even read the entire quoted portion of the caption... That definitely qualifies as an "idiot statement" and I'm actually surprised that it got past Nat Geo...

Were it not for fixed platforms our offshore fishing would suck. If you have ever scuba dived the rigs you would see how vital they are to our fish populations.

I don't think it would suck, but it certainly wouldn't be as easy. I snorkeled in the center of a rig for the first time about 3 weeks ago, and the amount of fish was incredible. Easily 10,000 hardtail swimming in the very center of it. I didn't get to dive further than 15 or so feet, but it was pretty freaking cool.

Floridas offshore fishing is actually pretty shitty. You gotta go out twice as far as you do in LA and then find a reef.

What exactly are these idiots trying to accomplish besides making them feel better about themselves? Liberal activist stupidity.
