Don't forget any engineer(s) that were contracted to draw up the plans for the failed areas. They too will be targeted.

When the final report comes out, it will be interesting to find out the details and timeline of events.

I am on the support side designing barges, tugs and OSVs. My family builds tugs and has dry docks. While not directly in oil/gas a large portion of my income is related to the industry.

I bet once this is said an done, the manufacturers of the BOP will get implicated hard as well as to why the automatic and the manual switch did not triger the device. Any engineer that stamped any drawing for this rig or subsea system must be sweating it out as well.

15 years working as a field company man, design engineer, construction project manager, and modeling reservoirs with wizz bang software. Shelf and deepwater, almost all GOM.

Wouldn't think of working in any other field. Oilfield trash and damn proud of it.

23 years in the O/G industry. Safety Coordinator. Shelf, deepwater and international. Been on the Shell Bonga off the coast of Africa, BP's Thunderhorse, numerous Chevron platforms, Mars, Ursa, etc. Specializing in production, construction and diving ops.

I've heard some solid ideas on what happened (from someone who was ON THE PLATFORM at the time of the explosion) but it's way too early to put out speculation.

RIP DWH 11.

Twelve + years in the oil patch, both onshore and OCS. Been on some nice rigs and on some pieces of junk. I was once scheduled to go out on a jackup, but it sank in a storm while being towed to the location. I've been away from it for a while, though, and considering what just happened, I don't really miss it.

Sounds like a bad cement job to me. On the 9 5/8 string to be specific.
