what is the chance that this stops tonight?
im gonna say a cold chance in hell, maybe if we had seen it slow down even a little. I have no idea about these things though.

is it just me or does it appear that the flow has slowed out of a few of the holes in the riser?

Just coming in since 8 am this morning ... the live feed looks terrible. I tried to read through the 20 pages since I've been gone BUT can anyone in a few words say what is going on? Still pumping mud AND now junk shot too???
This live feed looks horrid. The "white thing" looks cracked ... and what is the "clamp" on the left side of the picture? Looks like a parent with a grip on a child's arm!

BP pumped mud for about 10 hrs then watched results for 16 hrs while upping mud wieght from 16 to 18 ppg. Also going to do a partial junk shot to stop some of back flow thru riser. Starred pumping a few hrs ago again.
I don't have access to video so can't comment on video.

the main encouraging thing is that the tie-ins they made to the BOP stack choke & kill lines have held. being able to at least get fluids to the BOP stack is a start and gives you more options in trying to get it killed.

Does it look any better to anyone else? Looks the same to me.

The flow rate on the right side appears to have slowed down, and there is now mud on the metal that I do not remember before. I think I see a change for the good.

right side of pipe definitely looking much better!

Yea, the flow rate looks to be way down on the right side.

Judge what view of the discharge do u have?
Have u seen riser crimp and riser end?
If so do they both look better?

How will the relief well work? Will BP mill into the casing of the original well as close to the producing formation as possible and cement at that point? Or is there another way to kill it?

Have not seen riser end. Riser crimp looks better. If someone has a link to the multi-view, please post.
That said, I thought they would have left the riser insertion tool in at the riser end and held back pressure on it. However, other knowledgeable people on this board think they would have pulled it and let mud flow through the riser, with the idea that the kink at the top of the LMRP is enough of a restriction for a dynamic kill. If anybody knows or has a view of the riser end, please let me know.
Hopefully we will all be singing this song this pm or tomorrow:
LINK
For anyone who doesn't want to click, it is "View to a Kill," the backup song by Duran Duran to the James Bond movie of the same name.
I sure would like me some View to a Kill here.

They will definitely mill the casing. I am not sure how far down they will do it. It probably depends on what they think is going on downhole.
If they think that only the main productive formation is flowing, they will hit above it. If they think it is flowing along the backside through concrete channels, and through some of the gas bearing zones at shallower depths, they will try to hit it above those zones.
That is really no answer at all, I know. And take is as nothing more than a WAG (Wild arse Guess). But it made me feel better to type it.

So, I am looking at the globalwarming.house.gov spillcam and it looks just like it did last I saw it yesterday.
Is this not working or what? How long does this take?

Let me edit that to "knowledgeable people." I think I gave myself too much credit here. There are people on this board who know one hell of a lot more about it than I do.

As long as it does. They will pump until they kill it, rupture something (please God, no), or run completely slap arse out of mud.

That looks like a different view to me than CNN is running. It is from farther out and is lighter. Not sure which one is more valid.
