Looks like activity is picking up around the tophat

Those blue hoses must carry the methanol. There is a large 6' dia. disc above the top hat to keep 10? hoses separate.
Redstick, you still at work?

So what's the backup plan for top hat? Anyone hear yet? Try and remove the BOP and hope they can dress off the top of the 9 5/8 casing and latch up another stack?

Yes twiddling my thumbs. My rig lost full returns today.

i don't see why they don't put the diamond saw back on what's left of the riser to even out the cut and roll with the LMRP cap

Unfortunatly the fact that we havent heard what plan B is leads me to believe there isnt one.

I wondered that also, unless there is drill pipe loose inside that would bind the saw again.
But yeah, cleaner the cut, the better the seal seems to me.

That further supports my belief that the industry professionals are no longer in control. This could get even uglier if that's even possible.

Just wondering if you still needed a description of what is happening.
Right now they are hooking up the blue hoses to the top of the top hat. Why this wasn't done topside, I don't know.

why is the top hat in such poor condition? was it removed from another leak or something?

Wouldn't that be a bear with the tilt on the surface pipe? Or is that where the tilt is?

That is my nightmare scenario. And you have to think that all the pros on this job are all just beat to hell by now, too.

I wasn't very clear. Unless they can mount it to something that is plumb, I don't see how they could do it. No way to pull something as heavy as a stack over down there, is there? Am I making sense?

Honestly, I don't think they have been in charge since the fire was put out.
Way too many half wit government types involved, one is too many, always makes any situation worse.
They should be in a support role only, as is fetch coffee and doughnuts and keep your mouth closed.

Good point. I guess they could do it if they ran the stack with only the LMRP maybe and have some way to connect the riser after the stack was in place. That would afford them more maneuverability if the wellhead isn't plumb.

At least at the top but once you start cutting everything below the cut can move, or could.
But I agree, give that saw one more try at least.
