Watching it now....Looks slower than a molasses wagon going uphill in the winter.
Better to be slow and level than fast with a crappy cut I suppose.

Looks to me they had to cut it so low because the riser is egg shaped from it bending over. Most likely looking for the best round part for a seal area or to go inside the seal.

Stupid question time. Under normal situations where the well is cemented and the drilling rig moves off, how do they unbolt the riser from the top of the BOP?
There is a releasing mechanism below the BOP where it attaches to the wellhead. Under normal circumstances they would release from there and pull the BOP with the riser.

What's the link to the feed you guys are watching?

Might need a blade change. Doesn't look like it has moved in the last hour.

I just pulled it up again and I can't tell squat from the feed now.

Hopefully they stopped it and it isn't broken. I wish there was somewhere we could go to find out what is going on.

The cut must be fairly big. There is a ton of oil pouring out if it now.

Definitely not moving. They keep panning to what looks like an intake of some sort below the saw. Anybody know what that is? It is the yellow box which the white circular filter looking thing.

Just checking in since yesterday. I read the rest of the thread. I wonder what stage in the process are they in?

Oil gushing like we've not seen it before.
National media is primping about the sacred Florida beaches and how spill get political when Florida gets hit.
Saw is stopped running for right now which suggests unexpected set back or technical delay.
Rock bottom?
God bless the Gulf South. I am praying for an engineering hail Mary.

can anyone tell what they have suspended in the feed right now?
I know one thing, its going to be hard to see anything in that murk. seems to me like they should have tried to use a ram to smash the leftover piece of pipe closed that was sticking out of the riser instead of cutting it off.

Why are the shears of doom still down there? Or are they surfacing it now?

Saw Blade is stuck. They are trying to free it without breaking it. There is a second saw topside if needed.

Can they use the crane to take the bind off the blade, like having someone push on the tree when it binds up the crosscut saw?
