I don't know the particulars of the Cincinnati zoo. My guess is that most zoo's don't post big signs warning parents that small children could fall into the exhibits and be eaten.

Likewise, most parents wouldn't expect 4 yr. old's to be able to circumvent a zoo's barriers. Parents may be concerned their children may get lost at the zoo, but I don't think they go worrying that their children may get eaten.

Here's what the Houston Zoo has on its website:

quote:

Be safe: To ensure the security of our animals and our guests, please observe the following safety precautions.

Zoo animals are wild. Please stay on the visitor paths, observe posted signs and do not reach into or climb on exhibits.

Whether the parents were negligent or the zoo or both IDK. Ever how or why the child got there, kudos to the zoo for responding as they did.

Does the Cincinnati Police Department plan on issuing any charges of child negligence to the parents/guardians who clearly weren't paying attention to the frickin' 4-year-old?

"Cincinnati Police Department spokesman Lt. Steve Saunders said no chargers were being pursued against the child’s parents."

I don't know the particulars either but I bet they did post those warning signs. Zoo doesn't want to get sued by the parents of the dumb little kid that fell in.

Most parents worth a shite will tell their kid to step back from the fence so they don't fall in especially if there's basically a cliff on the other side of that fence.

I think the kid was already unconscious. That didn't stop the gorilla.

Yes, the animal locked in a cage for our amusement should be allowed to kill children who fall in
Sad truth is if it had wanted to kill the child, the child would be dead.

I'll never understand the animal lovers that think a fricking gorilla's life is more valuable than a human's life. Probably the same type of people who when asked the hypothetical about a stranger and your dog falling off a cliff and you only have the strength to pull one up you save your dog over a stranger.

It takes a pretty fricked up moral compass to believe an animals life is more important than someone's child.

Odds are the stranger is an a-hole.

I don't think anyone here posting has the balls to watch another human being due to save a dog.

There is no debate as to whether or not the gorilla should have been shot if this 4-yr old doesn't end up in a god-damn gorilla habitat.

The parents should 100% be prosecuted, and the zoo should be sued for not having caging that can keep kids out.

I'd save my dog's life over yours.

That's cool. I'd save you over my dog's life because I wouldn't want your children to grow up fatherless. Wouldn't want your wife to struggle with the bills and being a single mother just because you may be an a-hole. Then again, I'm not a selfish pussy like you are.

They are still investigating, but zoo officials believe the boy crawled through a railing barrier, then fell into the moat.

If this the case then the zoo needs extra fencing.
