Normal non criminals aren’t wolves. You’re a sitting duck unless you join a group. Independent types who have all their shite figured out and live on land alone will be killed quickly. The wolves are the one who can kill indiscriminately and never bat an eye. 80% of population isn’t that person. As soon as food stops rolling out and people are starving your plan goes to shite. Folks lived in the past on bread on weak beer. If nothing else, prepare for that as a basis, with freeze dried protein to supplement hunting/fishing.

For barter, build up spares for grain mills, and stock a LOT of salt.
