I’m in Mereaux, I’m leaving sometime around noon not going to far. I’m from Destrehan and going stay with my parents for the night.

Good thing for everyone evacuating is that by the time it gets dark, you’ll be in the clear on this thing and can go back home. Sumbitch will be in Virginia by tomorrow afternoon

Anyone else live in south LA not in the cone and still getting a little nervous watching this storm? I know it’s supposed to jump NE, but seeing it straight south of us on IR is chilling.

Lot of decision makers for schools/businesses down here in south MS having a “Boy Who Cried Hurricane” mentality due to previous storms not being what they were made out to be. Now we have schools starting right now, and a lot of people I know (including myself) having to get ready for work when an actual fricking Cat 2 is gonna smoke us with things intensifying right after lunch.

Today is gonna be a shitshow.

The effects will be gone by 10pm, which makes staying /finding power ideal. It's not like we'll be hunkered down for 2 days.

Even the professionals downplayed the hell out of this. It’s sad.

Cat 2 hitting this afternoon right at NOLA yet the city and all the state offices are still open but they closed for storms that were landing over 100 miles away. Are there complete idiots running the government?

Most people I know are staying. I’d rather just leave for the night and come back tomorrow

People down here haven’t paid attention to this thing at all, it’s weird. Everyone I know has been more concerned with where we’re watching the LSU game this weekend

Good luck to you SELA baws. Insurance approved my new roof here in Iowa this week so I’m relieved to be sitting this one out finally.

Yep same here as well. Kids have school in Pearl River County and will get off the bus about an hour and a half before the TS winds are supposed to arrive. Ridiculous
