The point and click forecast for the NWS is wonky. The same service has MSY airport with sustained peak winds at 70mph, but Mandeville, a point that will undoubtedly be further from the storm center, with peak winds of 80mph. That’s simply incorrect.
For what it’s worth, as of the 10am update, New Orleans proper has a 10% chance of seeing sustained winds greater than 74 mph.
This storm is going to pack a solid punch, but the point and click NWS forecast is more bullish than the NHC itself is, which is already pretty bullish.
I wouldn’t leave Mandeville unless I was surrounded by water oaks and pines like that guy this morning.
Anyway, back to self ban land. I’m ashamed to be a bet squelcher.
