I really don’t understand how these African storms can make it into the gulf this time of year but I certainly don’t discount this or anything happening.
FWIW-
The local weather guy on WWL said he did not expect it to be an issue for the US GOM so there’s that. He didn’t give rationale. Guessing the propensity for cold fronts?

The latest GFS looks like fun, after a storm enters the Gulf, a front pushes it northeast over south Florida, and then rides it up the East Coast. Maybe we'll get that snowacane after all?

It’s a good thing that storm spinning up in 10 days is just as hypothetical at this point as that cold front it shows coming through

Change of the seasons with cold fronts coming through regularly. All it takes is the right conditions and getting extremely unlucky like 2020 has been. GOM could still support one. You have central america to worry about too with possible storms coming off there sliding right into the GOM on monsoon season. I don't know what it looks like down there right now but they're always a threat to GOM in October.

Depends on location and where it hits. GFS keeps trying to spin one up in WCAB. Not really worried it will make it this far west right now. I could see something hitting Florida.

Sorry to say, but good. Those frickers are sticking out in between the gulf and the atlantic begging to be hit, and somehow all the hurricanes skip that big land mass and find SW LA instead.
