Yikes.

They also have an oil & gas E&P arm, but it's a pretty minor part of their overall business.

Project was bid before Covid and the massive delays, supply chain disruption and enormous cost increases post Covid combined with Zac "internal inefficiencies" are at the heart of this. We are owed 5MM so my bonus is likely be effected by this.

It’s not just materials. Labor escalation, especially with the LNG projects, has crippled the industry as a whole. I deal with it every day on my projects. LNG projects soak up so much of the finite labor pool, they pay out the arse to get the shear number of workers they need to build one. It strains them and every other industrial project along the gulf coast. There are only so many craft people who can work industrial to go around. The LNG projects quite literally have driven the overall cost of doing business in the industrial construction sector much much higher than they should be.

Do they not bond jobs of this size? No idea who you'd go to for bond of that size. Wonder how much they left on the table? I bid one the other day, came in 3rd at 24.3 mil, 2nd 24.1, low bidder was 19.8. He's not big enough to eat 4 million, so we might be on the job before it's all said and done.

They were laying off employees to try to pay gas and other bills. Not surprised.

When was this thing put out for bid? Years ago? Look at how much materials have gone up. Especially industrial materials for a project this large.

Usually major materials are purchased by the operator not the contractor.

CB&I made a shitty acquisition. That's on them, not Bernard.

No shite. I wonder how late the payments are to Sunbelt. This had to start looking ugly some time ago

Probably rolled out a new AP/AR portal that was overly complicated then blamed that for the reason why invoices weren't getting paid on their 60 day terms

Not always the case. I’ve been on a few mega projects (owners side) and several major ($100-$500MM+) projects where the contractor procured a good portion or a majority of the major equipment and bulks.

XOM is a capable company but in a bind if committed to a hard completion date. Bechtel won’t bend them over but won’t do them any favors.

This why sending in a change order is never the answer to recoup your cost.

If you suck at managing a project and blow through your budget...dont expect owners to step in and pay it to help you out. Especially if youre dealing with Exxon and QatarEnergy.

You have no idea WTF you’re talking about. Sending a change order is often the answer to recoup your costs. We’ve done it many times.

Also, it might be true that they did a poor job managing the project, or it could be false.

How does this affect Venture Global in Plaquemines Parish? Isn’t that kZjv building that one with the Z being Zachary?

Any truth to the rumor they folded a lattice boom crane at Venture Global and might get run off that job?

I know the crane did collapse, but I don't know who was operating it.
