Being the best public school district in Louisiana is like being the smartest kid at the special Olympics.

Kulcha, and short sighted often greedy community leaders.

Donaldsonville is horrific. It's a very sad, depressing place. WTH happened to it?

Same thing that is happening to decent towns all over Louisiana. The kids move off for college then get opportunities in other states. Then only the lowlifes stay in town or the community leaders that are racking in the cash.

I couldn't imagine living somewhere where I'd feel forced to pay for private school.

Many of us moved to the east side to send our kids to St Amant, EA, or Dtown.

There ones who started send they're kids to Ascension Catholic

That's why Louisiana has close to negative population growth

I'm sure LA is bottom 5 in education but in most areas of the state you can just move to the suburbs like everywhere else to avoid this.

Livingston homers are going to be angry. They will probably post pithy remarks after they look up the definition of "proficient" and "standardized

Not sure about this particular one, but a lot of these rankings give a generous boost for "diversity". Livingston usually takes a hit on those. So congrats i guess.

Remove Donaldsonville, Carver, Gonzales schools and Ascension probably ranks as one of the best in the nation.

Maybe best in the state but there's no way I think it would be up there with the elite school districts in places like Texas or Massachusetts

Ranked 964th in the nation and #4 in the state...
It easily becomes #1 in the state and possible top 300 without those areas

The flaw in ranking school districts is that places like Zachary and Central only have one high school and some of the more populated areas have several. Well, if you live in Watson the quality of education at Walker doesn't really matter to you.

If you do a deeper dive, you will see that their test scores are steadily declining.

Donaldsonville should annex from Ascension and join St. James Parish, would be a win/win for all involved.

Donaldsonville High is a B rated school. It's the elementary & middle that's failing- both D rated.
