YouTube’s new algorithm is unbearable and totally obnoxious

Is this happening to anyone else? I feel like they’re holding me hostage or there’s a ghost in the machine. The recommended page is literally the same thing over and over and over again until they chip away at you to just watch it so it’ll go away

Yep same for me. I also get the occasional AI generated history or how-it’s-made video that’s terrible

When I'm watching my conspiracy stuff, it always goes to Lawrence O'Donnell or Face the Nation next. If I'm watching something funny, it goes to Stephen Colbert.

Karen Read murder trial video
Tim Pool
and a sailing video from a channel called Parly Revial.
Other than the Karen Read thing, I sub to the those being recommended. The way I understand it, the algorithm is based on your history. Are you on a shared computer?
ETA - I have YouTube premium. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I wonder if they’re targeting people with extremely high ad block usage rates for shitty service if it’s not the same for everyone? I use brave browser and its built in auto block hasn’t served me a YouTube ad in over a year. They want to break me

Go download brave browser. Takes 5 minutes and you’ll never see an ad again. The internet is unusable without ad blocker

YouTube is dying before our eyes. Between AI bullshite and content creators all trying to use the same clickbait formula, it’s jumped the shark.

Same. I subscribe to a bunch of history, travel, music channels and that’s all they recommend for me.
Occasionally an LSU game highlight if I went down a sports rabbit hole recently.
It’s basically how I wind down every night before sleep. Just throw a YouTube doc on the tv and fall out.

Yeap. It’s one of the best streaming service no one talks about. It has everything. I don’t think people consider watching it onTV and not their phone.
