Biggest problem with YouTube these days is the amount of A.I. videos on the platform.

I don't think that last part is remotely true.

I like to listen to YT Music in the background on my laptop at work. There's multiple ads now in between each song. It's terrible

However, YouTube shorts are a full pain in the arse. I wish there was a way to disable that showing up

In what way are they a PIA?

First, you don't have to click on them. But there are button filters under the search field for just "videos" or "shorts".

Secondly, I'm finding myself clicking on them more & more lately for a straight-to-the-point clip (like twitter) of a viral fight/debate/quote/event/moment/joke/etc., or a quick synopsis of an unfamiliar subject, or a minute-biography, or best-part-of-a-song-that-avoids-the-duller-sections, or best-play-of-a-game, etc. Sometimes, I don't want to watch a 59 min video of the ancient megaliths of Baalbek and will go to the shorts to quickly see the impossible 1600-ton carved stones wielded with ancient tools.

Remotely?

My parents and their friends probably spend more time watching YouTube on their phones than cable TV.

Maybe not a totally true statement, but it isn't far off

Best $15 a month ever. If I'm not watching a football game, I'm on YT. Big Victor D Hansen fan, smartest man in America.

I don't watch "tv" at all. I stream what little sports I consume and everything else is either YT, Amazon Prime, a packaged streaming service (HBO Max, Paramount+) that I don't have separate subs for, or *other.

*Other may or may not involve the high seas

Yep. They want to annoy you into getting their premium service

as far as " best bang for your buck" goes, I don't know that I pay for anything better than that.

Tbh, I feel the same way.

It no doubt improves my quality in a "mental" way.

I've had premium for the last few years. I always forget how nice it is until someone tries to show me a video and we have to awkwardly watch an ad.

My only gripe is that as a YouTube TV member since 2020 or so, YT Premium should be included in that package, or at least at a discount.

I’ve definitely noticed it over the past month-ish. It’s like someone at Google turned the ad knob up to 11.

I’ve read that at least some of it has to do with the actual content creators though.. apparently monetized accounts can turn the frequency of ads up for more money. So it might partially be a function of the specific accounts you’re watching lately.
