I have a youtube channel just as a place to save my videos for my personal use. I can't mark them private because my parents watch the videos..

I just put a couple of videos of me and my son on a weekend golf trip just hanging out on the deck enjoying the view..

Both videos copyright complaints because Jimmi Hendrix was playing on my bluetooth speaker..

No views, no comments, just copyright violation. Weird.

They have algorithms that can identify the songs and where their rights lie instantly. It's pretty cool. Also kinda scary

I just binged watched a bunch of NFL and NBA games on Youtube. NFL mentions something about "This cannot be rebroadcast or published with the express written consent of the National Football League". Youtube didn't care a bit.

Depends on the artist but some videos will get blocked even with a couple of bars of a song even if performed by the YT creator themselves.

If it is of interest Rick Beato has several videos talking about YT and music blocking.

I have an account for similar purposes. I recorded myself playing Moonlight Sonata on piano and got a copyright complaint from Time Warner for stealing the audio from one of their films. My video was down for a month while I went through the back and forth.

The Hendrix family is VERY strict about YouTube. YouTube is much more lax with other artists. It’s very difficult to find a regular Hendrix song from one of his released albums on YouTube.

My kid likes to make videos, and he made one at a car show a while back. "Turn down for what" was playing in the background, and the video got hit. I guess you need to load in your own license free music to cover it up? I mean, what realistically is the issue if it's ambient music?

The NFL has an agreement with YouTube. The content can be posted there but has to be watched there - you're not supposed to embed the video on another site.

That's why Urinating Tree has been able to openly create and post weekly highlight videos.

Weird, you would think it would be well out of copyright since it was written 200 years ago

Hell, people are getting strikes for copyright claims of classical music that has been Public Domain for damn near a century. It is crazy.
